Radisson - 2011 / Ivy & Princess

No sooner said and voila there she is.......But no lunch!

This is really a growing up day for the chicks!!  Hope all is well and Princess can come back soon!

Saw either Princess or Ivy at about noon circling the roof of the Radisson, making alot of noise - the workmen are getting an earful! 

[Stormy]

I'm sure the chicklettes are ok - but, it's been 40 mins. since Princess left.  I'm thinking she's out looking for Ivy at some bird bar!   Or, she stopped waiting for him and is going to get her own dinner.

Hope he comes back soon . . .

Has Ivy gone awol?  When was he last seen? . 

He's been gone for a good few hours ... could have gone further afield to hunt ... or he could have been up on the roof making sure that no-one was getting near his kids.  He's very quiet so you don't hear him yelling like you can hear Princess at the moment.  Speaking of which, she just took a fly by at someone up there, I recognize the swing in the sound as she swoops ...

1146 hrs

One of the adults is in full-blown miffed mode by the sound of the protest calls.  The bird is away from the nestbox so could be on one of the towers above the nestbox.  Its the kind of sound s/he makes when we are go out on the roof for banding, so someone is protesting some work on the rooftop it sounds like.  The Hotel did talk to whomever was working earlier and reminded them to keep away from the box and to keep the noise to a minimum.  One advantage with her protesting is that it should attract Ivy from wherever he is.  Yup, just got a clear sound and that is definitely Princess royally annoyed at something!

Can't see her flying on any of the other camera angles so she's overhead ...

I think Princess is up on the roof somewhere squaking at/for someone!  The chiklettes have all quited down.  Has Ivy gone awol?  When was he last seen?  She is still really squaking.

1115 hrs

Princess is on the box edge looking for Ivy and the meal.  She's calling as are the chicks at this point.  The chicks are making more fuss than she is but I think she's getting quite testy that Ivy is late ... hope he has really good take-out or even better, more than one!!

And off she goes ... didn't see Ivy in camera range but maybe she did ...

And she's back again yet again without a meal ...

I don't know why I never hear the chicks.  Have no problem with hearing Princess as she encourages the wee ones at meal times.   I know my hearing has dimmed somewhat but when there is no background noise at home I don't have a problem. Perhaps it is the pitch of sound!  Would love to hear them

Did a bit of checking and since there has been enough light at 0500 this morning, there have been two meals so far one about 0520 and the second at about 0635, so I'm pretty sure Princess was out looking for Ivy and the chicks' midday meal .... she's moved the chicks around enough so that she can keep them covered and watch out the box for himself ...

The kids are in a pile but still doing some crying for Mum.  They look serene and sound asleep but they are still making a wee bit of protest at being left on their own.

And as I type this, guess who just hopped in, sans food.  She's got them under her and they do not like being shuggled!  Lots of muffled squeaks and chirups.

Looks like the first day of learning to "grow-up". Also the first of the "poop-art" course that we have seen!!

Princess left not to defend, but rather I think to find retrieve food for herself or the kids ... at the moment the tots are all sitting up and "chatting" with each other ... now all cuddling into the comfort of a chickpile ... well except for one who definitely wants his mommy or a snack ... oops, even he has succumbed to the lure of the chickpile ...
