Today I have seen some questioning, dare I say criticism, by some of the members of this forum regarding the placement of radio transmitters on some of the young birds born in this province. Let's all remember that The Peregrine Falcon Recovery Project is all about helping these magnificent birds return to their more normal numbers which were decimated over the past several decades. We are not dealing with a bunch irresponsible researchers here...these are topnotch scientists who feel that information gathered in this manner will enhance the knowledge they already have gathered and further enhance the recovery of the birds. If they decide to place transmitters on the birds you can be sure it was only after weighing many pros and cons which might occur. We are mere bit players in this scene who are most fortunate to be able to peripherally partake in the migration, nesting and fledging of a few pair of falcons. The Project has always welcomed our participation and we should be grateful.....lest we lose the priviledge.
