The biggest chick there just forced down a big feather....oh, now maybe going to hack it up...ah, at last something big to eat. Good ol' Princess!  (no offence to Trey, of course, and all his efforts!)

So I wonder - in a case like tonight where we expect frost - and the chicks not easy to cover up anymore - how come we never ever see BOTH parents do 'Tent' duty together  ???

Oh, 30-35 min later, here's Trey...and with a very small little snack!

Hmmmm....where is the food? ...

I expected Trey to swoop in with something but the chicks have been on their own for almost 15 min and no sign of mum or dad (at least not in my little square of viewing space!) . The chicks don't actually look all that hungry...

Princess got up and had a good stretch before taking off about 7 or 8 minutes ago.  Chicks are very fidgety trying to keep themselves propped up and do a little pecking or preening at the same time.

Our IT cut the cam a few days ago - but we got it back today! woo hoo. Not sure if we were re-connected in error or just a 'treat' for Friday. ;)

The feeding just before 4pm was great to watch - loved watching P. tucking the babies under her. They are getting big and starting to develop their own personalites.

thanks Tracy....have to go back and study Princess & Trey's photos again......thought I was so smart pointing them out to my friendsand that I knew who is who...lol

I have no doubt that you can tell the two of them apart Marie, its just at this time of year, most folks aren't prepared for how fast the chicks grow so they frequently mis-identify the female as male based on their size in relationship to the chicks!

We have a photo gallery with photos of Princess & Trey for comparison - www.pbase.com/speciesatrisk/pefa_2009_id/

Actually, its Princess - that's how much the chicks have grown in the last 10 days - they have basically doubled in size from the day they hatched.  If you look closely, you can see that their butts are growing too fast for their feathers to cover them right now!!!

your weather sounds like ours. It is so cold and we are going to have frost tonight.
I have to go and pack now. I am off to Ottawa tomorrow morning until Late Wednesday night.
I will check all the cams . Might not be able to post if I cannot remember my password.
and luck have it. The Ottawa nest site is a block away from where I am staying ;) ;)

Stay warm everyone.
