Maybe that one male will realize he doesn't need to be the king of the world for one night and go join his brother and sister and snuggle up together for the night.

I know the kids are older now but with that much rain expected - should it happen, will they be okay out there in the open?

Yes, they should be.  With the wind, the rain will get blown around a bunch so they should be able to tuck up against the wall and keep themselves much drier than we think.  They are able to thermoregulate, have a downy undercoat now to act as insulation (like their parents) and know how to preen to keep their flight feathers in good shape and protective.  The fact that the vent chick is asleep in the wind and rain should give you a clue as to how concerned the little darlings are about the weather ...  as for rain collecting in the nestledge, the rain we are forecasted to receive is over a day or more so shouldn't be like 2008, but they are now able to stand above the water and if need be, hop up on the nestledge edge if they so desire ... may not be what we desire, but we have lost control of these little darlings at this point ...

Sorry, can't tell you what the problem was with the Forum precisely, but it was fixed easily enough when I did a little extra maintenance.  Might mean that I have to do a BIG maintenance overhaul this weekend, but will let you all know if I do - after I've made sure that the whole thing is backed up.  If you want more information - I will be posting more details in "The Forum" section, not here.

BOT - the wind is coming up on the ledge.  Female & one male chick are tucked in the north corner, dopey male chick two is still sitting on the vent, kid is just like his Dad ... ::)

Eye-Spy and I are playing camera jockeys today, I'm currently zoomed right in on the feet of our vent percher, trying to read the band number - pretty sure its the same chick but might as well start on the individual identification part ..

Thanks for getting things up and running so quickly. Given all the traffic - I'm almost surprised that we haven't had more blips. You guys do an amazing job!

Thanks for the update on the foot close ups - I saw those earlier today and figured that there must be some reason. Any luck on determining if it's the same chick - or is it still to soon to tell?

Someone looks like they just finished gnawing of some left overs and now time for some flapping - the girl I think.

Ah Birdlover, its easy to get caught up in a conversation online even when it goes off on a tanget and its fine if it ends in a few posts and its obvious how it developed.  Its when it goes astray for too long that it needs to be shovelled to a more appropriate venue.

Rainfall Warning Continues as of 6:10 pm
Severe Thunderstorm Watch Continues as of 6:01 pm

Special Weather Statement
WOCN11 CWWG 261743
Updated special weather statement issued for regions of southern
Manitoba by Environment Canada at 12:43 PM CDT Friday 26 June 2009.

Special weather statement issued for..
City of Winnipeg
Steinbach - St. Adolphe - Dominion City - Vita - Richer
Selkirk - Gimli - Stonewall - Woodlands - Eriksdale
Dugald - Beausejour - Grand Beach
Morden - Winkler - Altona - Emerson - Morris
Bissett - Nopiming Provincial Park - Pine Falls
Whiteshell - Lac Du Bonnet - Pinawa
Sprague - Northwest Angle Provincial Forest.

Heavy rainfall is possible for the southern Red River Valley and southeast Manitoba through this evening and Saturday.  Locally severe thunderstorms may produce in excess 50 mm this afternoon and this evening.  Convection will give way to an intense low pressure system that will move across southern Manitoba overnight and Saturday bringing widespread rain with embedded thunderstorms.  Total rainfall accumulations are uncertain, but currently a further 30 to 60 mm of rain through Saturday seems most likely.  However, the potential exists that some areas may see the possibility of receiving in excess of 90 mm.  As more information becomes available and the track and the intensity of the incoming low pressure system rainfall accumulations in the local forecasts will be updated.

Thanks TPC, I did try to get them BOT, but they were having none of if.  Back to my earlier question, how long is the Storm watch for and is it gonna get really windy still?

Okay, I'm shovelling some of the detritus out of here ... you can find it in the Peregrine Room ...
::)  LOL  or let us all know what they're on about ;D

Folks were starting to get more than a little off-topic which when others are trying to catch up on the daily happenings at this site is a little frustrating - there are 5 pages of posts on this thread already, I took out another 3-4 pages.  Just makes it easier for folks who want to catch up on the peregrines, not have to catch up on unrelated chit-chat as well ...
