...although his runs along the ledge, with wings flapping, remind me most of little kids running along with their arms stuck out, playing airplane... ;D

Bro was on the ledge flapping his wings and the wind picked up, I thought he was gone for sure. He's now at the south end corner. The other two are in the north corner. Me, my heart is back where it belongs for the moment.

I think we just had a close call -- little brother took a run along the edge, flapping all the way, then stood at Trey's Point, flapping for all he's worth. The wind blew and he teetered -- fortunately, falling/jumping onto the floor of the ledge. I thought he was on his way, though.

There's a little confab going on in the north corner--one male was on the ledge, appeared to faceplant onto brother sitting in the corner, and then sis came over to see what all the excitement was about and sort them out!

True, there are some good things about the ledge I s'pose - but also more chances of landing in traffic, or smacking into a building during early fledges, plus this ledge is alot lower than the West Nest, so not as much time to get flight control before the ground.  :-\

I see another reason Trey and Princess might prefer the open ledge to the box.  First there is a drain to anchor the kids as they exercise their wings.  Second there is room for the now big wings to stretch without hitting anything overhead.

Maybe they are smarter than we give them credit for.
