Such cool cam work....love it!

If I were hot shot...I would be pretty content on this ledge..................it's big and long, he can practice his wing flapping and helicopter flying all he wants to build strength.  He needs to fly building to building (each one of them being at a higher elevation) to eventually get him back to the ledge.
Come on hot shot, we know you can do it!!!!!  Just take your time buddy!!

With that huge "beach" to play on, why does he have to sit hanging over the
edge near the wall. Maybe it's the closest he can get to "home"?

Is Hotshot still the little dark spot at the end nearest the wall on the rounded edge down below?
Yes, that's him. Closer views showed him hanging over the edge facing the cam so that's why he appears smaller.

As for the hotelier who has been letting the falcons stay rent-free, he is happy to have them on his roof.

"It think its fantastic that we have some extra guests here in our hotel for the next few weeks, knowing that this is one of the few mating pairs in central Alberta.

I absolutely love that the above was said!!!!!.....way to go!
Thanks for the link to read that article Carly and the heads up on the report Willmax!!!!!!! :D

Ooops...I guess this will get shovelled to the alberta thread.....

Tks Kinder,,,,,,,,sure wish I could have seen that, but sounds like all is good so far. Perhaps I'll be able to catch one of the others.

Bad news about your hard drive, Donna.  :( Had that happen to me once. No fun! Anyhoo, welcome back! Yes, 2 still on nestledge and one that we're calling Hot Shot is on the far left corner of the curved ledge directly below the nestledge.

He will figure it out.
Thanks for the reassurance, Carly.  :D Hey, weren't you the first one to report seeing him fledge early this morning? Lucky you! And thanks for reporting the news, if it was you! ;D

Yes that was me, I'm in Ontario so I caught him bright and early!  And you're very welcome about the reassurance.  I just finished a fledge watch here a few weeks ago and watched our guys in the same situation!!  They eventually figure it out with some determination and a little help from mom and dad  ;)

Just watched one of the at-home chicks actually fly along the edge of the ledge, a couple of short lift offs with much energetic flapping -- I was sure he was going to take off into the air -- and then he hopped down onto the ledge floor. My heart's still a-thumping!

would hotshot have to fly somewhere else to try to get the height he would need to get back to the ledge?
I would tend to think so, nibs, but then I'm just guessing. :-\

Heh sorry was typing while you posted..yes you are both correct.

He isn't strong enough to fly straight up yet but that will come with more flying.  What he needs to figure out is that he has to fly across the street and gain some height and then from there try to fly upwards and back across.  He will figure it out.   :-*
