Just got to work after spending a lovely 90 minutes with bccs & Saoirse (thanks for the ride bccs!) :-* Wandered around Portage/MTS/Radisson for a bit before finding them in 'THE' parking lot behind the Regis Hotel, which is a SUPER location to view!! - Open, sheltered from the wind, quiet, you can see ALL around you.  ;D - I didn't get to see a feeding like I wanted, :-\..  No tag either  :-\- but saw Princess on the Radisson sign, Trey on the 'J' , Vesper squawking & gliding around before ending up on a Radisson window ledge where we lost her. One of the boys circled over us a few times too, giving us a great view. bccs thought it was Tupper. ...or was it Ty?  ??? :P - anyway, a bit quiet during my time there but I'm sure it'll pick up later. The kids are flying Sooooooo well!!!....Anyone going out - sunscreen needed if you burn easily!!  8)
Thanks for the update.  I'm used to enjoying watching them in the morning.  Perhaps I can get down later this afternoon or tonight.  Good to hear that Vesper is getting better flying around.

depends on if your sunburn is creating a ringing sensation, debc52.  ;)

I've always been impressed by those few spots that show where you missed out on the sunscreen.  Shows how well the stuff works!

Thanks much for the update - nice to hear they are flying and happy.  ;D

Thanks, Ballywing. Even though we are *sure* they are alright it is great to hear an actual report.
Yes, sunscreen is a definite must. I am really peeling (or is it pealing? - brain tired and fuzzy!) from the spots that I missed when I put on sunscreen on Wednesday! :P ::)

Good luck to the watchers. Radar is clear, winds 26-39 NNW and
maybe cool in shadows.

Just watch out for the sun. "UV index 8 or very high."

Allikat, it sounds as though you had a fantastic night -- great description of everything that was going on. I'm heading down there in about an hour (I "committed" to being there from 10 to 2 but that's not enough . . .) -- look forward to seeing our birds out and about at some point.

was it a waddlestompfaceplant walk?

Now that would have been something to see. ;) ??? (guess you'll never live this down bccs)

Sounds like you all had a great time last night....and our family put on a great show.  Will try to drop by, but only for a shot time as unfortunately real life sometimes interferes with falcon watching. Watching the cam doesn't cut it anymore.  How things change in a week.  Anyone know where they are now? Have a great day everyone. ;D

I was picturing more of a Monty Python-esque silly walk: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wippooDL6WE&feature=fvst

Tracy, do either you or EyeSpy have a screen capture of our intrepid ground force? Since the Phanatics Afar cannot see the birds it would be fun to have a peek at the bird watchers.

Well...

Tonight was another great fledge watch get together.  There was me, Debc52, Linderlou, Bccs, Liz and Pam came a little later to join us.
The night started off slow.  Just trying to track down who was where and who's on first and what's on second...you know the drill.
Saw some flying around as we all met at the corner of Portage and Smith.  We decided to take a walk to see if we could find our girl...as she is the centre of attention, and that's because of her lack of flying skills, she's just the centre of attention.
We walked to the back of the St. Regis Hotel and decided to park there for a bit....you know to mimick Vesper  ::)
Anywho.....we found 2 other bird watchers, not forum members, although they just might become members after tonight..IF Bccs didn't scare them away with her "falcon walk".
There was a lot of discussion going on as we were just hangin out, and one of the watchers, TED...yay for TED, he pointed out that he saw falcons on the Radisson.  So the "watchers", quickly get out their binocs and check things out.  And "sharp eyes Ted" is right.  Way to go TED!
There was some magnificant flying going on tonight folks.  Vesper was on the roof of the Rogers building then later moved to a window ledge on the Radisson.
The boys are chasing after Dad as he as prey ready to be grabbed from his talons.  It's really fun to watch Mom and/or Dad teach the boys how to hunt for food.  The flying is just spectacular.  We saw one of the grab the food away from Dad and land on the open patio at the back of the hotel and the other brother followed him there.  We think one boy had the catch all to himself.  Vesper, during all of this excitement, was just hangin' out on one of the window ledges squakin' away.  Kinda asking in a round about way, "where the heck is my dinner, I'm waiting."
Trey tried to stoop some pigeons flying by but he missed...I'm guessing that meal was for our girl Vesper.
I'm am so impressed with the flying skills of Tupper and Ty, they are doing so well.
Vesper, is a little behind, but she'll get there.  She seems to know when it safe to go out and play.
All in all, it was another great night to watch our falcons fly high in the sky.
It's just wonderful to see all five of them together....  if any of you can come downtown to watch this spectacular air show, please do.  It's worth it!

Ciao for now!!!!

Just caught up reading from yesterday and sounds like a great day with good flying by our falcons.

But what I need to know is about this:

from bcbird:

Did anyone take pictures of this falcon walk imitation that bccs is worried about?

from bccs:
Quote
I sincerely hope not bcbird, although we never do know about the web cam ( oh crap )

was it a waddlestompfaceplant walk?

It's amazing how many times watchers have been approached by folks who are familiar with the Forum (but haven't joined), folks who have recently joined and folks who just want to know what the h... we are doing.
Yeah, it's so great!  I love that.  Some guy on Monday, who looked like he was on his way to a meeting, stopped and asked me what I was looking at, listened to everything I said, and then said, "I should bring a lawn chair."  Eventually I said I had to leave, and he parked himself on the bench to watch.  And letting the downton security guys know (passing on info they didn't ask for - lol!).  And having people who surprise you because they know!  Love it.   :D
