He's back!!   Heather was enjoying having the nest to herself, stretching and relaxing in all that room and low and behold, Joplin showed up and settled back into the nest!  Funniest thing to see!!  I've never seen that before!

I left to go to another room, came back and no Joplin

They lift and hover like a little helicopter but then, settle right back on the nest edge.

I know!  These two are hilarious!  They're just bulging out of the nest, sitting on top of each other...Phoebe eems to be trying to coax them to fly away, but they seem to want none of that...

Lots of wingersizing going on with both of these two. Even a few vertical lift-offs in the air, but right back down in the nest again. Or on top of each other. LOL.

You're right, susha, they don't look ready to make a move yet. Mom just flew in with another feeding. That's what enticed the last ones to finally leave home. Lots of feedings, just prior to fledging. LOL!  Maybe for energy.

They sure are bursting out of the nest, overflowing even!  Maybe it's too hot to fledge!  They don't look at all interested in moving

Phoebe's chicks haven't fledged yet but should be fledging any time now.

Phoebe's 2 chicks are expected to fledge next Thursday. Already!

Ah... I imagine you are right about that, jadoo... Also, interesting "tidbit" about how Joplin, Missouri got it's name, Elaine. I didn't know that either.

As for Phoebe, her 2nd chick hatched this morning between 10:30 & 11:00 AM. The Kinderchicklets were watcing and were very excited to see this event. About a half hour before the hatch, we could even see the baby chick moving around inside the egg. It was VERY cool!

Just an additional tidbit of information about the name Joplin, while we are on the subject.  I thought Joplin, Missouri was named after the ragtime composer Scott Joplin, who hailed from Missouri, but apparently not; Joplin, the town, is named after the Reverend Joplin, a Methodist minister who settled in the area.
