Newest "egg" reporting in (long time guest).  I wonder if there is any correlation between hatching and the full moon, though Thursday would be day 36.  Maybe TPC could answer that when she next checks in.  Curious. ???

It`s so reassuring to know the little family will not be exposed to the elements like that fateful day two years ago!  What a heartbreak that was.  Who knows what adventures await Princess and IVy`s brood this year. Good can come out of bad, and I do believe that among many things, we learn through our grieving.  Because I`d become so attached to TLC, after their tragic drowning, I began to seek out other Peregine nests and have gotten great pleasure from following the life stages of other magnificant birds, mostly in nests in the US.  I can`t watch the webcams from work, but look forward to checking in once I get home.  And I love reading the forum, which I can access from work, and I so appreciate everyone`s dedication to keeping all of us silent Phanatics up to speed (I sound like Margeaux Watt!)  Now that we`re getting close to hatching time and the excitement is increasing, I`ll be checking in on the forum at every opportunity!

Thanks again everyone!
Susha

It is Day 33, with usual duration of incubation 33-35 days.
I'm looking forward to TPC's report of the early morning egg inspection from the video!
Let's hope for a pip, pip, hooray, today.

Ty to all,
The question has been well answered...a great learning experience, I love it!
So sorry I didn't give you the correct info, Cara. I don't know what I was thinking. ::) I was actually thinking that this is the last weekend of May!  ::) Of course, I do remember now that incubation began around Earth Day, but TPC was able to give you the exact dates. She is the best person to ask about these things. I am still relatively new to peregrine falcons and the forum...

Around 8:00 this morning there was a shift change. I think Princess is on the eggs now and she has been moving around quite a bit. Not sure what that's about. Maybe a hatching today? :-\

So far it doesn't look like there's a "Victoria".  Princess (?) just lifted off her eggs and I did not see any fluffy white.  However, the day is just beginning.

This year, first egg laid the 22nd, fourth egg laid by the 23rd.  We start our count from egg three, usual date the incubation begins.  Incubation on average runs 33-35 days.  We are on Day 32.  We start hatch watch earlier than some projects because we had a female that hatched out her chicks after 28-29 days of incubation for years.  And we wouldn't want anyone to miss the hatching now that we have a webcam!

I checked in the peregrine chic blog on the cbc  opening page and after checking several pages I found that TPC saw the first egg on the 17th of Apr.  and on the 22nd of Apr. there were 4 eggs and Princess and Ivy were incubating the eggs.  So if the 3rd egg arrived on the 20th then today should be the 33rd day ??? If my calculations are correct(its the math you know) it could be anytime..TPC did guess this weekend.  Hopes this helps Cara59 ;)

I wish I did know the answer to that question....I will leave that up to our one and only TPC to answer that one!

However, I believe she, TPC, mentioned she thought that we might see a hatch this weekend....?

I don't think the chicks normally hatch at night  ??? - so maybe tomorrow will be THE day!! ;D
Don't they normally hatch very early in the morning? :-\ For some reason, I seem to recall that, but I could be wrong.

I think that Princess began what is referred to as "hard incubation" the first weekend in May, but I'm not absolutely certain. :-\ Allikat might know for sure.
