I keep wondering about that independent chick -is it always the same one or do they all take turns being independent, adventurous, separate from the pack... ???

It is hard to tell this year if the same one stays back at feeding or wanders around.  They all look to be about the same size.  Other years there was one that was bigger or one that was smaller but not this year.  Not that I can tell anyhow.
I just love the fact that they do wander around more now tho.  So cute to see them walking around and just going right over a sleeping one. Just too cute for words.

And another meal.......very well fed chicks, indeed! One was quite indifferent at first but eventually joined in.

Yup!  Good photo Ballywing!  Lovely fluffy feathers up close.  And at one point, while they were moving around, one of them backed right into the camera so that everything was blacked out.  Too funny and sweet!

:) It is not hard to see the chicks now or should I say A chick. Seemingly they like the view from the other side of the nest. Can you imagine how they decided to make their move, saying "all for one and one for all". :D

"So, if we all move in together like this...squish against the camera lens...we'll block out the view...that's it....we're almost blocking their whole view... :P :P"

I haven't seen the chicks in a couple of days and I can't believe how they've grown. I tuned in to a feeding......they had their backs to the lens so couldn't see all the gorey details  :o ......which was alright! I did notice that they seemed to be eating on their own and had to make sure they got their share!  ;D After the meal was over, one was wingercizing for all he/she was worth. They just grow up too fast.  :'( ;D ;D

I'm having a hard time getting onto the Forum this morning - don't know if it's the internet or my computer or me just not knowing what I'm doing!

Some great close-ups of the Giant Chicks - they seem to be hungry, trying to eat the nest box! :o ??? :o

Mom/Dad is sitting watch over the nest.  Can see the adult sihlouette on the ledge and the chicks are there somewhere!

So having Princess means you automatically have a larger territory?!

Another peaceful scene with the parent on the left edge of the ledge, facing out, and a barely visible chick pile settled for the night.

Very perceptive Eye-spy.....

The proximitity to water and their availability to prey is correct and accurate.
Technically they are outside the audible range but visually, I'm afraid not.
However, all in all, the falcons know their own territories.
Thank you Tracy.
Ahem.....I take that quote as a compliment!   :)
