Was hoping we'd have an egg here too but mom was actually out hunting today!!  Saw her on the edge of our building looking for 'lunch' twice today..lol..I guess when you're eating for two.... :-*

Of course she could have one or two already and I wouldn't know although given that it  was in the minuses with wind chill up until yesterday and she wasn't on the nest yesterday either, I'd guess not yet as I think she'd have to keep it warm in minus 7 weather wouldn't she?

Plus 10 for tomorrow so maybe ....

I have been waiting for the cam also Carly. I am so glad you are seeing them.

I will be going down to Thursday to see if I can see anything at my site.

Well...whoever flew through obviously hasn't dampened dad's spirits.  I came out of a meeting and went out to check on them and witnessed another mating!!  Should be some eggs coming within the next 4 or 5 days if they are on the same schedule as previous years! ;)

Ok I think I just witnessed an 'escort' out of the territory.  I went out quickly to check on my pair and mom was on the nestbox, dad on webcam and suddenly a third falcon comes from out of nowhere, passes directly in front of their ledge - sees 2 other falcons - screaming starts and interloper takes off behind condo, dad in hot pursuit, interloper flies out over road, dad on his heels, saw dad hit him...both flew out of range but interloper high tailing it..in otherwords he's not fighting back.

Mom has moved to cam but no sign of dad back yet...I will keep checking.  So much for my sandwich..lol  Must say, never seen dad move so fast except when he's hunting!

Isn't that quite something, seeing them mate, Carly. Glad you finally saw it in person!

Heh..yes it was exciting!  Dad was on the webcam and mom on the nestbox, he flew off and around in a semi circle and then next thing I know there they were - and then he flew back to the cam ...lol...over in seconds!  Wasn't quite how I pictured it..lol..I expected some canoodling first...hehe  ;)

2009 NESTING SEASON

Frank tells me that they hope to have the webcams in Toronto up and working within the next 2 weeks.

Angel and Marco are in full 'romance' mode, lots of bonding stuff going on and she was pretty much velcroed to the nest box last week while he brought her food.  This week she's been out flying and hunting alot more and I've barely seen him at all so not sure what point they are at now.  I haven't witnessed mating personally but given how close they are, I've no doubt it is going on  ;)

P.S.: Forgot to add, the CPF will be at the Sportsman Show starting today until Sunday down at Exhibition Place if any of you are in the area and would like to see the birds up close, here is your chance!

I just found the link Maggie about Linn!  Isn't that fabulous!!  More of Mariah's offspring in the city!  She produces such strong offspring, this can only be good for the local population to have her genes sprinkled around  ;)

And my pair was outside today, I checked on them first thing after yesterday's cold, snowy weather and there they were..mom in the nest box and dad in the cam looking as if they were on the beach instead of a cold ledge in the north!

Yay..after 2 days of no sightings, this morning mom is on her nestbox again..whew  :)

Great news, Carly.  8)  Glad that they are still hanging around  :)  It looks like some of the other Toronto residents are still around too, or at least were last weekend.  Mathew Rossi reported the residential pair were sighted at the ledge, and exciting news via Rochester.  The CPA reported to them that Linn (Rochester 2007) has been positively identified at the hack box site and has a banded male with her that they haven't been able to identify yet  Let's hope that this means more chicks in Toronto next year!

Also it's going to hit plus 13 today after a few days of frigid temperatures.  I guess they must have a hiding place where it's warmer.  I wonder if they go up on the roof near some of the mechanical equipement..would probably generate warmth for them!

Well I am not sure but I think mom and dad may have left  :'(.  There hasn't been one day that one of them hasn't been on the ledge since February that I've been watching but it's day 2 and no sign of them anywhere.  They were both here Monday through the blowing snow, cuddled up together on the ledge.  Tuesday mom was in her nestbox and dad on the cam all day long but yesterday nada and today so far despite the rain ..nada.  No feathers on the ground this morning, no discarded wings or pigeon heads  :-X either.

I will keep checking but I just wanted to record it in case they did decide to go to warmer climates together for a vacation so I'd know which day they left.

I was off work today but I wonder if they came to try and fix the cam as it's been out of commission for quite awhile and it needed a visit to determine the cause.

That is a nice little clip they run though isn't it  :D :D
