there will be a new cam here this year. They emailed me to show me , and are in preocess of connecting to internet. will let you know when it is up..

will be interesting to see who shows up. and there will be some construction there this year. Peter and I will take a drive out there this week to survey exact location of construction and see what we can see

2015 NESTING SEASON

I did not realize that i never reported here much. too many sites I guess.

Just want you to know that even though there was a lot of outside interference this year, all 4 juveniles fledged and did well. Peter and i went out there and personally saw all 4 out and about shortly after fledge. We also continued to see them come back to nest box. sometimes 1 sometimes 2 sometimes 3 .

After our adutls dispersed mid Sept, a red banded female appeared at box, and was leery at first but then stayed till cams went off end of Sept. Gord Id her as a 2013 female hacked from Pembina. Great news for the program. an unbanded male was there also but after  several comparisons , in every way , we are certain it was a different unbanded male. For some reason the adults at Genesee leave earlier than U of A and come back much earlier . So it will be interesting to see what happens next season.
I am worried about next season, with the construction of 2 new electrical additions taking place by nest area. I will be questioning them about it.

I do have positive Id for female here. sh e is the same one

2014 NESTING SEASON

I am monitoring from a really bad test cam right now.

We had 2 back and then no one at box .
so Peter and I went out there on April27 and the stinkers were in and out o f a vent. We were there for 3 hours monitoring them. So they had to wait till they could get safety approved and Gord wanted to give them chance to finish clutch. The idea was to gather eggs and incubate them and then hopefully they would reclutch in box.

So May 3 I turned cam back on ( I had not watched for 2 days as no one ever came there)( I recorded
And what do we have 2 falcons at box scraping.  they have been there ever since. What happened who knows. Territorial fight , ?
But when George and others  went to vent on May6, no eggs. We were very surprised.

Since May 6 test cam has been very spordic and purple and green . Goes off every other second. But between a friend  and I we have been watching. The old  index finger is mighty sore. 

Food to box, female has looked  to be trying to lay egg for last few days. Very hard to see but we are trying. Almost got an ID also.

We do know male has no bands.

so stay tuned. I wil try and get some decent pictures

And yes, I do have a busy other life. 

and went up finally May 6 to gather eggs But no eggs. They did leave an Owl decoy there to hopefully dicourage them
