Haven't been able to check this webcam all day. Mother Goose sure has had a rough time of it, protecting her eggs! Poor thing! :( Good to hear that Father Goose is around to help her! :) I had no idea there could be so much violence in the Goose population either, Elaine. Sure do hope she can "hang in there"! :P She seems to be resting now, but always with one eye open.

She is a very brave goose, too.  She didn't try to defend herself at all against this feather-pulling gander, and tried so hard to stay on her eggs to protect them.  Finally she was forced to leave her eggs, then dad showed up with all barrels blazing and got a handle on the situation.  Since then, things have quieted down, and mom has managed to get some sleep.  But she hardly has any feathers to cover her back and neck, where the intruder ripped out her feathers, so covering her head while sleeping is not easy.  I surely hope that everything works out for her and her family now.

Poor Mama Goose! Her poor bald neck. They just put up a FAQ that says the intruder is a male who has a nest in the are a & they suspect he's getting territorial. (I say he's being a bully!)  They are expecting the babies to hatch as early as May 2.

Hope all goes well for the Goose family.

mom was attacked again .... intruder scared her off, but then the male chased the intruder off.  He stood over the eggs for a bit.  mom had come back and when the male moved away .. she got back on the eggs.  She sure is taking a whooping.

Yes, apparently another attack by the intruder.  It just never gives up!  I had no idea there was so much violence and drama in a goose's life; and I do mean violence - everything is quiet and serene, and all of a sudden an attack, the violence just so unexpected. And it just seems to continue.  Father Goose has his hands (so to speak) full!

From what I read this morning, there was another attack on Mom.  She had to call for help.
Let's hope these two can take care of this intruder.

Last post on the cam site was of Dad beside Mom on the nest.
Reassurring that the male appears to be still around

Oh my goodness! Sounds like lots of drama for Mama Goose today! :o When I last checked early this morning, all was well. I know that it is all part of nature and life but I have to admit that I'm so glad the 'chicklets didn't see the attacks! :o Mama seems to be resting at the moment.

Wow..I was reading this from work but couldn't access the cam.  It sounds like it got quite intense, so glad the parents are okay  :-\

I can see that now too, thanks, Elaine.
She still looks very much on guard.

The way to tell if it is mom or not is to check and see if the feathers are gone on the bottom of her neck and par of her back.  Oh, she just lifted her head, and it is mom.

Now the comments on that cam site  describe a frozen or no image.
Maybe the situation became very disturbing and the broadcasters shut down the cam?
The image that froze was one of Mama longed necked, head low and (no sound to confirm) apparently hissing.
