It is much warmer and sunnier in Elk River today.  The ice has disappeared off the river.  This is the only camera that I can view without difficulty here at work, and I am suffering from falcon withdrawal.  Come on home, Dot and Dad!

If anyone needs Windows Media Player to view this site, here's a link where you can download it ....

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/windows-media-player

Also has information on how to view Media Player files on Macs ...

This link worked for me ...  ???  Though I did think it wasn't until I saw a car scooting along the road on the left ...

Just so folks know, RCF's second link requires Windows Media Player to work ... so if you don't have viewer software on your computer or are having problems, go to the main link (the one above) as it doesn't require a viewer to work, it just runs right from the GRE website.

Thanks for tracking down that viewer link RCF!

2012 NESTING SEASON

Elk River camera is up and running.  It is still pretty chilly there, lots of snow on the ground.  I am really looking forward to seeing our falcons return here, and hope to see the return of Dot and Dad, who did such a good job after the heart-breaking disappearance of our resident female last year.

Looks like the cam is off for the season :'(  The message says that the falcons have left the nestbox and asks us to return in March.

Guess you got to see the empty nest just in time, eagle!

Just checked the cam and I don't see anything except gravel.

All quiet on the river front.  Not surpiring I guess, in the day.

No, I didn't notice the lightening.  I must have been... doing something else.

Well, I wish we could be seeing one or two or all of them :'(

Having the three cams would definitely be a bonus.  Oh well. We'll just have to check back tomorrow I guess.  Did you see the odd lightening flash in the sky?  Almost time for me to pack it in.  Your movie must almost be over, Liz :)

susha, there's "Wayne and Hanson, after Wayne Hanson, Great River Energy’s former director of Minnesota generation, who recently passed away. The females are named Elisabeth and Skye."  Not sure who we are or aren't seeing!

Still empty. :'(  Guess she's joined her siblings, wherever they've been spending the night.  The folks on the website say that they stay close to the nest box until migration, but out of cam range obviously :P

It'll be interesting to see if she stays away now.  If so, I'll miss her, headless and all :-*
