I'm sure you're right - that the adult is coaxing them to leave the nest by going in and out.  Pretty amazing.

Yes we have learned that peregrines do encourage them to fly and all that, just have never seen it, so I am guessing that that is what he/she was doing coming in the box like that, and squawking and stuff.  Amost like she was saying come on, come on, come with me, and took off outside again.  You can hear her or someone squawking from outside the box too.  Maybe she is like, no there is no food, if you want food you have to come out and play.  lol

I'll have to defer to Tracy on that one (mom trying to get chicks to fly).  I thought it was up to the chicks, but perhaps the parents do give them a push.  Eagles do sometimes.

the second time the adult comes into the nest box and everyone gets very squaky - it looks like the chicks are chasing the adult out of the nest but maybe I'm misinterpreting it.

wing flapping from the outer ledge thing - really makes you think today is the day for the boy.  I don't think the girl is ready yet - way too much down still showing on her back.  Hope she doesn't give in to peer pressure.

I think the parent maybe coaxing the chicks to fly by coming into the box like that and flying off.

lots of wing flapping by both, one jumped out on the beam and fluttered a bit and jumped back in.  I am wondering if Mom is trying to encourage them to fledge maybe?  Oh dear, heart in throat,,,, one back out on beam,,, lots and lots of wing fluttering, lost balance, oh my,, whew back in box.

oh my god - I think that nest box is getting too small - one of them just went out on the limb and came back in.  I think it will go soon!

Mom or Dad just showed up out on a beam, no food.  Oh my she is in the box jumped all over the chicks, everyone squawked, she jumped over the top of them and back out and flew off! Now that was different.  Good heavens.  Why that happened I don't know.

That's what I thought, but wasn't sure. I can't imagine a stranger getting close, especially if the parents are around.  Perhaps if the adult doesn't have food to offer, they get annoyed.  Just curious because it seemed like odd behavior.

that was funny, little one looking in the camera, turning head this way and that, does my hair look alright?  lol.  Then as I suspected it must see itself cause finally had to bite at it a few times!  very funny.
