Interesting - I was watching one day, trying to figure out which one was in the box. I noticed the left foot as being different, but didn't get a really close look at it. Now that you say 30/B was back, then it was her I was watching. Any danger that the two females would tangle with each other at this point, or is that primarily in the spring?

One falcon was there this afternoon - I'm not sure which one. Both adults are still visiting from time to time, and last year's female, 30/B, has also been visiting recently. She is the falcon who is missing two talons on her left foot; she moved back to her former nest site at the Sherco plant this year and she and her mate had four babies this year, three females and one male.

Mom's still around - she's been hanging out on the ledge on and off this morning.   :)

Eli, all that happened in like 10 seconds.  They were so quick.  They dove off the ledge and disappeared in a second.  Looking back I see my misspells.  I was typing too fast because I was so excited and surprised to see them both at the nestbox.   :)

I can't believe I missed this.  I was watching her, she was picking around in the nest box, and then she was looking at something, but I could not see what - I had no idea her mate was around!  And I looked away for one minute to do something else, and all this happened.

My, my, she's with her mate.  Both of them are at the nestbox!  Did anyone else see?  She was on the ledge, then hopped into the nestbox, then in flew her mate onto the ledge.  Now they've both hopped onto the side out of site and then I saw one fles off followed by the other.   ;D

She's back!  I was sure that I saw the last of her when she hung out almost all day yesterday; it shouldn't be too long now.  It looks like she's enjoying the weather and doing a bit of preening.   :)

It's totally amazing that they can etch that in their minds and find their way back!

She did leave this morning to hunt, and I saw a number of birds scatter in her wake.  She came back a hour or so later, and hasn't moved.  I think she is resting up for her journey, and at the same time, making sure she know the lay of the land for her return.

Wow, Mom's been at the nestbox all day.  I haven't seen her leave to hunt.  She's still there.  Is that usual behavior right before they migrate?

9:38 am EDT - Mom's perched on the ledge and enjoying the morning sun.  I wonder if Dad's still around and if she's getting ready to leave.  It shouldn't be much longer now we're into Oct.
