Any updates, absolutely, been a weird quiet/busy year. Sounds like it can't be both, but it has been. What with Porter's death, birds nesting, birds not nesting, birds dating everyone and no-one, birds turning up, then seemingly disappearing and then the usual technical glitches. Cameras have to be replaced from time to time and as technology improves, we have to improve our tech to keep up. This year we have camera upgrades and tech upgrades colliding which would be fine, except that we only have one confirmed nest in Winnipeg ... right where the hardware upgrades were needed. Pandemic rules haven't made it any easier of course. But we are still working on getting us all a live feed streaming from the Radisson nestbox. Ella & Pip (more Pip I think than Ella) have very graciously moved the eggs back a bit from the camera, so when we do go live, you will have a better angle on them than you would have had two weeks ago. Bit of a silver lining.
As to when we expect them to hatch, Ella's counts have been mostly consistent over the last couple years - starting at 34 days after incubation began. Cold spring could mean that they could take a bit longer as it didn't seem (to me at least) that hard incubation really began until egg 4. So, best guess, mid to late next week.
