Smiley by behaviour for sure, has there been a positive ID that I missed?

Haven't seen his whole band perfectly clear but I have confirmed colour, the top digit and one of the bottom digits and half of the other digit.  Not many other options when I get that close.  ;)  Add to that his return, behaviour on site and with Princess and I don't really have a doubt.  But I also won't give up until I've got the darn thing on a screen capture!!

Given our awful weather and the low temperatures, it's wonderful that the egg is in the nest box.
Good luck little egg.

So happy to hear about the wise choice by Princess to lay her egg in the nest box.

Smiley by behaviour for sure, has there been a positive ID that I missed?

And I should mention, Smiley hasn't quite manged to get all the poop removed from his head ... he's getting there though, probably on a couple more days and it will be all gone.  :)

Still just one egg this morning, will have to see if her next comes today or tomorrow.  She laid during the day yesterday, so may mean the same will happen today or she's just taking her own sweet time, which I guess at 14 is something you've earned the right to do.  ;D

Smiley and Princess have been parked over the egg constantly, in shifts - he's taking the longer ones & napping.  We are apparently in for a big weather shift this week, 15C (almost 30F) between today (Sunday) and next Saturday.  Tuesday/Wednesday will be the crossover - from 3C (37F) to 13C (55F) respectively.  Will make incubating when they get down to it, much more enjoyable and perhaps allow for more breaks off the egg(s) when the sun is shining in the box - Madame used to big on time off the egg(s) in that box.

  8) 8) 8) Wonderful news, TPC. I'll guess 4 eggs! ;D

Would be nice, but she is 14 years old, so I'll be happy with one egg plus a friend.

Princess taking a nap on/with the egg at 1102h - 40 minutes after egg was laid

Temp right now downtown at the University of Winnipeg is -4C (25F).  Winds have been clocking from the east through the south and now south-south-west downtown so she's mostly protected from the wind in the box which is nice.  The ledge cam on the east side of the building is bouncing in the wind, wouldn't like to see her keeping her egg protected on the ledge this morning.

Yup, today is the day ...  ;D

Princess and egg doing fine from what we can see.  She's not leaving the nestbox and the egg yet.  Smiley came by within 5 minutes to kak at his mate and she wasn't letting him anywhere near the egg.  Its cold out so I suspect one or the other of them will hang out with the egg for most if not all of the day just to be sure.

Smiley's been ousted out of the box and Princess is back inside ... it may be that today is the day ...

... or its just too darn cold and windy for Princess and she's decided to tuck inside ... she's been doing that more often in the last couple of years ... time will tell.
