Glad to hear that he is healing nicely. A bit sad that he won't be releasable as he was a good breeder, with the grand-kids to prove it.

Retirement isn't so bad. Do you think he may go back into a captive breeding program where he can continue to contribute to the peregrine community?

Not sure ... but it would be nice to see more of his genes out there ...  :)

Thank you, TPC for this update. I cannot speak for others, but what I can say is this phanatic only wants him to survive and yes "retire" in a peaceful environment for him. "Go Beau Go"!  :-*

Beau is healing nicely but already it has evident that he won't be re-releaseable.  But no worries, he has a home to go to with folks who know all about peregrines and he should do well.  Remember, he came out of a captive-breeding program which may be why he was more relaxed in rehab which is a great thing for his new life.  Being returned to the wild may be what we would see as the best outcome, and an argument could be made for that.  However, since his injuries remove that option from the table, his new home will allow him to live a longer life where he can still be a peregrine without the ability to fly long distances.  Remember, most peregrines don't get to "retire".

Has Beau made progress? Is there an update available, TPC?

Good timing, I just emailed for an update but haven't heard anything yet.  When I do hear something I will post.
The estimate was that he wouldn't be ready to be assessed for a couple of months, so it may be a very brief update.

At last report, Beau still doing well though he did screw up some of his stitches but that was quickly/easily repaired.

It is always good news when we hear a PF is doing well after treatment. I hope Beau will continue to thrive in his recuperation. It's too bad they do not have tiny little cones to place around their necks so they cannot tamper with stitches. Not feasible I'm sure.  ::)

I forgot to send my doantiaon. apologies. been tied up at my sites here.

Beaus injuries sound similar to one of resident males a few years ago. Gord rehabbed him but it was a long road to recovery. bu t recover he did and a falconer flew him and he was able to make it to migration.

there is always hope. :-*
