Looks like one of the girls fledged today.

Wow! Thanks for the news, dupre. Has anyone seen where she went? Sure do hope she fledged safely. :-\

I drove past as well not long after Dupre and the girls sure get around - nice to have a light wind day so the girls can run the walls - helps them get stronger and helps them to get comfortable with the winds so they will fledge safer.

When I came past the girls we on the north wall, Beatrix was on the northeast corner and Ty was in the southwest corner and everyone seemed very comfortable. And you can sure tell the girls from their parents - obviously they are bigger than Ty but they look much sturdier (or bulkier if you like) than Beatrix.  They looked wonderful sitting there ...

Went for a drive this evening and spotted all members of this family. Beatrix was on the east sign. Try was on the south sign with one of the girls above him on the wall. The other girl was about half way along on the west wall. Ty flew away for just a moment and returned to the south wall but landed one floor below the sign. What an odd place to land. Didn't stay long. Then he flew off followed by Beatrix, leaving the kids on their own just chillin' on the walls.

Both chicks were at the nestbox this morning, then they went wall-walking and lost track of one (remember we can't see 1/2 of the roof with our cameras) and the other has found herself a nice shady spot across the roof from the nestbox - it has been a very popular spot on the roof with previous years' chicks.

Went to check this site as the first few drops of rain fell. As we approached we saw a bird fligh to the nest corner. It was just the faintest glimpse of a bird. By the time we got around the building there was a chick crouched on the corner. Was this the bird that just flew in? I don't know. Then it started raining harder and the chick retreated off the wall. Once the rain tapered off, there were two soggy birds that we could see looking over the wall at the world.

Crazy weekend for me folks but will try to Get a good long look at the cam and the recordings and provide everyone wigs full update. The roof here unlike at McKenzie Seeds has a lot of places we can't see with our cameras so at this time of the year I have so watch where/when they "disappear" and reappear to know what they are up to.  The oldest chick here hatched on May 30th so she is 41 days old her younger sister is 39 days old.  It used to be that 45 days was a good estimate for female chicks to fledge but our kids are smaller so could go earlier but there are just the two of them and they are both girls so could wait longer than a mixed gender nest.  Hopefully I will have more news soon!!

She was a little farther back on the wall, with her back to us, when I got there. After a while she got up moved one step then sat again with her back to us. This time with her tail hanging over the wall. I haven't seen any flying here yet.

The older of the two chicks practically knocked Ty off the nestbox when she bolted up the ramp to relieve him of the food he'd brought.  The younger chick didn't show any interest in the food and remained on the roof sitting in the sun and out of the wind.

Here's a video clip of the almost hit-n-run ... https://youtu.be/tYZnx8rsWBc   :D

Looks like She's almost ready to fledge. :(  Tracey, have you decided on a naming contest yet?
