Just as an FYI, our best estimate is that Day 33 will be June 6th. Given that it takes about 3 weeks to begin laying and Hurricane was first observed on April 11th by RCF. We know that there were four eggs in the nest box on May 11 which means incubation had already begun. RCF thinks she saw incubation behaviour about May 4th which if Hurricane wasn't being coy before April 11th and hiding from RCF, then May 4th for incubation would be very fast, even for Hurricane and Brooklyn who are usually fast.
So, if RCF's observation is correct, Day 33 is June 6th so we will start checking the nest box a couple of days earlier just in case Hurricane and Brooklyn met up on migration and are faster than any of us anticipate. We will keep checking until all the eggs hatch. That way we will be able to refine our hatch/incubation match after the fact and be sure of their ages for banding.
More news as I have it.
