I am sure I am not alone on this but I have to say it anyway... I have been watching these beautiful animals thanks to TPC and CBC. I have been watching for the last few years and without fail I spend more time and energy on anxiety over these babies and babies of past. When they first get around to being close to fledging I never really want to see them go  :'( but am totally excited when they succeed. Hats off to you TPC for staying so collected and calm(or you appear to be)..lol. Thank You for this wonderful opportunity again.  :D

They sure do look to be eyeing the ledge. Won't be long, I'm sure, till they hop on up.

Whew!!! So good to see the chicks enjoying a feeding this morning! That was quite the storm last night & I was concerned that the chicks might not survive, without any overhead cover. Glad to see they continue to survive & thrive! ;D

Chronology for this morning

  • didn't see anything pre-dawn - but I check at 1 minute intervals, so if the parents did a quick food drop, I might have missed it
  • 0440h - chicks just where we left them last night - in a pile against the wall on a high spot - still a bit wet by the look of them
  • 0458h - Princess arrives on the edge
  • 0510h - Princess leaves
  • 0513h - Princess returns & stays on the point until 0636h
  • 0636h - Princess leaves again
  • 0653h - Princess returns again
  • 0655h - Ivy appears with small food packet, Princess & chicks go to Ivy, Princess takes food and leaves
  • 0656h - Ivy trots down to the "cool corner" and disappears off-camera
  • 0658h - little chick does some wingercizing
  • 0727h - little huddle-cuddle against the wall
  • 0914h - more wingercizing & running
  • 0935h - chicks hanging out in the point doing some world-watching (or meal delivery watching)
  • 1010h - breakfast!!

Weather forecast ... ick ...

Day - Overcast with thunderstorms. High of 27C. Breezy. Winds from the SW at 10 to 25 km/h shifting to the WNW in the afternoon. Chance of rain 90% with rainfall amounts near 7.1 mm possible.

Looks like the kids are being poured on - again -  :-\  Thunder, Lightening, lots of rain - no Mom or Dad in sight on the cam. The chicks must be getting used to this!!  ::)

It looks like it's lightening at the Radisson.   :-\

The winds have come up suddenly and thought I could hear thunder rumbling in the distance a while back.  Checked the inside box cam and might have been lightning but couldn't be sure.  The skycam showed flickers of light, but they almost seemed too regular to be lightning - spycam only showed street/vehicle lighting.

Winds are from the west which I can confirm as the skycam is shaky at the moment.  Ledge cam is stable and out of the wind, just like the chicks on the ledge.  If we do get rain and the winds stay as they are (from the west) the chicks should be protected from most of the storm.  The chicks are awake at the moment doing a bit of tussling to figure out who gets to sleep on who.

One of the adults is on the green slash under the Radisson sign = I'm pretty sure it's Princess, it's "her" spot on the sign ...

Lots to consider when banding the chicks, especially where safety is concerned - the safety of the humans involved with the banding & the safety of the chicks. Here's hoping the equipment you require arrives in time and the weather cooperates, TPC. Sounds as if "Jupiter needs to align with Mars" to make the banding of the Radisson chicks a possibility this year.

If they don't get banded then I guess they won't be named.
Hopefully you get to band them.
