Nestledge cam is installed and up and operating!  Thank you Eye-Spy and Dennis!

Female on the eggs ... male/Ivy checked us out as we were working ...

This year we will be able to flip between four cameras again - two on the west side (skycam & outside box cam) and two from the east side (spycam and nestledge cam).  Very cool to be able to watch both sides simultaneously!

I'm so happy that Ivy is strongly defending next year's nest site!

Okay, take it back.  Nothing much interesting on the east side of the building but between 0500 and 0530 today, someone was on the edge of the box again and then had a visitor, then got buzzed by a blur and then he took off after the "blur".  Don't know if it's Ivy on the box annoying Cowboy or Cowboy on the box annoying Ivy.  Either way, someone was very very annoyed first thing today!

I can't believe I am actually going to say this but  :-[  ... holy cats the Radisson birds are boring this year.  They aren't doing anything within camera range.  No napping, long hours without shift changes, almost never do I see them chowing down and only once have I seen them hoovering.  And there isn't even any weather drama (knock on wood there continues not to be any).  I can't wait for the chicks to hatch if only to have something exciting to watch!!

If you go to the CBC falcon cam site, they have the date listed really big. You can't miss it.

Can you remind me when we might ::) ::) have cameras in Brandon and Winnipeg Radisson? Can't wait.

May 15th is the scheduled time for the cams to start operating.  :)

Wind though it is blowing briskly and gusty, doesn't seem to be giving the incubating adult much trouble (female I believe by the size - the spycam is getting whacked by the wind).  Winds suppose to die down tonight.  Weather in Winnipeg not as good as the Brandon weather over the next few days but not bad either.

Today, 8 May  - Mainly sunny. Wind north 40 km/h gusting to 60. High 13. UV index 6 or high.  Tonight - Clear. Wind north 30 km/h gusting to 50 becoming light early this evening. Low plus 2.
Thursday, 9 May - Sunny. High 15.
Friday, 10 May - Cloudy. Low plus 4. High 11.
Saturday, 11 May - Sunny. Low plus 1. High 6.
Sunday, 12 May - Sunny. Low zero. High 15.
Monday, 13 May - Sunny. Low 10. High 28.
Tuesday, 14 May - Sunny. Low 13. High 28.

A little hoovering going on on the nestledge in the warm afternoon weather.  Looked like the female despite the fact that she had her head stuffed in a corner and was working very diligently.  Four eggs is our final total for this year and they all look good from what I can see with the spycam.  The nestledge cam will be installed in the next few days so we will have a new view on this year's little family soon enough.

TPC, have you ever had a year before when it took so long to identify one of the nesting birds?

Oh lots - all before the webcams and when I was actually working for the Project and had 18 hours a day to sit and watch and wait for a bird to move.  We have gotten more than a little spoiled with the webcams and cameras like Wowzer.  Not that I'm complaining, we also have more birds now than we had back then.  There are lots of projects that aren't/don't manage to identify birds for years - there are any number of reports where it is assumed that the bird that has been nesting at a location is the same one that has been there for years, but a band number isn't read for years.

At this rate, the chicks are going to be hatched and banded before we know the identity of the mother!  ::)

Maybe when we band them Dennis will be able to get a band number with the help of Wowzer or Wanna-be-Wowzer ..
