Despite the wet cool weather the peregrines return.  If anything I have seen more of them as I am not out as much and I check to see how "my birds" ;) are doing.  Also, for the first year I located and saw at least one of the peregrines from the Radisson, another of the peregrines on the Buhler building letters and one on the east side letters in West Winnipeg.  The West Winnipeg peregrine thrilled with an aerial display when she (bigger peregrine) took off flying south towards and over the Assinboine River. There was soaring and wing tucking - a magnificent aerial display. It was Mother's Day and the perfect gift! :D

Dawn verging. Is that an eggshell I see or wishful thinking?  ???

Wrong, no broken eggshell yet. Maybe later.

Some frustrating pecking happening. I wish I could read beak. Talking or squawking going on as well. Soon our Royals will have baby beaks to feed. Manitoba will have an incredible and exciting season.  8)

Shift change at 1228h, "mark", does look like a pip but I don't want to get hopes up ... Ivy is on the eggs now and seems pretty calm ...

Looking at the Environment Canada and The Weather Network forecasts ... this week is going to suck for Ivy and Princess:
  • Tues = isolated showers with 1-3mm of rain + winds SE 15km/h
  • Wed = 30% POP with up to 1mm + winds NW 15km/h (ledge more protected)
  • Thurs = 60% POP with 15-20mm of rain + winds NE 25 km/h (may be more protected)
  • Fri = 70% POP with 15-20mm of rain + winds NE 25km/h
  • Sat = 10% POP + N 20km/h (more protected usually)
  • Sun = 10% POP + S 15km/h (less protected but also less wind)

high temps ranging from 22C (Tuesday) to 15C (Saturday), lows will be from 13C (Tuesday) to 5C (Saturday).

As unappealing as this sounds, unlikely to be more than irritating and labour-intensive for Princess and Ivy.  Some nice weather from Saturday into next week with a couple of days with rain (can't say how much or even if the forecast will remain the same) middle of next week as well.  Doesn't look like a repeat of Black Friday, just less easy for the parents.

At 0932h Princess did some rearranging and can't say for sure, might just be a mark on the egg or maybe a pebble stuck to it or it might just be a pip ...

As of 0522h this morning during shift change ...

Weather Forecast for Today

Day - Overcast. High of 23C. Breezy. Winds from the SE at 10 to 20 km/h.
Night - Overcast with rain, then a chance of rain after midnight. Low of 14C. Winds from the ESE at 10 to 15 km/h. Chance of rain 70%.
Could today be our day for a hatch?   ;)

Parent keeping eggs warm with back to camera. (Ivy? Can't see crown and looks like a smaller bird).

It isn't as windy as it would seem (based on camera movement and ruffled feathers) - wind is from the south at 5 km/h. When I look outside my window (close to downtown area) the trees aren't even moving. Perfect weather for hatching  ;)
