Hmm, ice-floe transport seems to be a trend this year - thanks for these Alison!

A short story and video from the CBC site tells of a year old eagle released from the Wildlife Rehab Centre yesterday. Rescued after its nest fell from a tree in Austin, Mb. :)

Another video is from the CTV news show.

I just saw this on Global news. An Eagle soared from atop a structure in Dubai to his handler. A camera captured it! OMG!

What a great video of so many of those magnificent birds.

With that pickup and car for size comparison, it is not surprising that no one wanted to approach such large raptors.

Oh my goodness! I half expected to see Tippi Hedren come along and drop her bag of groceries in horror. I'm rather thankful now that all I get in my supermarket parking lot is the flock of seagulls. :)

Thank you susha for posting the video.  One would hope that the person who shot Beauty was arrested and charged to the full extent of the law.  A few years ago, while fishing at Lockport, my husband and myself witnessed someone across the river trying to shoot a bald eagle.  It soon became obvious that many others saw this as well as soon sirens could be heard and the shooter was arrested.  It appears that several people called the RCMP to report this horrendous act of a coward.  More people should involve themselves when seeing something of this nature happening.  All they have to do is call the authorities.  They do not have to actively involve themselves because it could be dangerous.

This is a most beautiful story!

Tearing up just now..very nicely told story. I think I heard about Beauty before but didn't really understand how the "beak" had been secured to the underlying structures. Wow, what a feat! Thank you for sharing this.

Thanks for the link, rcf and for the heads-up, gemcity!

I've heard of the Hornby Island eagles doing this same thing when their prey has been too heavy to lift - they swim it to shore.  Amazing and resourceful creatures!

I received an email today about a swimming eagle. It was fascinating. The footage was taken at Mallard Lake in Baton Rouge, La. Someone had shot and killed a Nutria (a beaver like rodent) and it was floating in the water. I am having difficulting with the link, however, if you google swimming eagle of Baton Rouge you will bring up the link on youtube. This is amazing. :o
