Oh no!  I'm so sad, especially for you, RCF and Rose, as I know how much you love and care for this family.  I was hoping that this would be an incident-free year for the Brandon birds :'(

I do agree, RCF, that is is very fortunate that Maya didn't die alone on the side of the road.

It is very sad that Maya has died.  It was very fortunate that someone found her and knew she was special and taken to Wildlife Haven and cared for and didn't end up dying on the side of the road. TPC had informed me via pm on Friday that Maya was in rehab. I called this morning and they told me that Maya had passed away overnight.   :(

Sad news, Maya has died.

She was picked up by the RCMP west of Brandon on the 16th and transported to the Wildlife Haven for treatment.  She was way underweight so she hadn't been eating and was dehydrated.  She was found on the side of the road so no way to know yet if she was injured or just too weak to continue flying.  Can't tell if she got too far away from home or what but the folks at the Haven tried to rehydrate her but she was just too unstable and overnight (18th/19th) she died.

RCF last saw her on the 8th so she was away from home for somewhere between 3 and 8 days.

For the past week I have been seeing pretty much everybody, either on the McKenzie building and/or the Scotia Bank building. I have seen Brooklyn in the nest box on a few occasions and one morning Sol was perched on the edge of it.  I also think I was seeing Hunter in the nest box too because I am pretty sure it was two dark bands on his legs, so that would rule out the other two juvies. I saw Mom and Dad and two juvies yesterday morning.  :)

 :)  I saw two kids for sure today, could have seen three but not all three together at the same time. They were chasing pigeons and moving from different spots on the buildings.   ???  Hunter was on the roof at the bottom of the clock tower and I thought Hurricane was on the north light but it was Maya..........sure looked like Hurricane from a distance.  :o

Brooklyn was in the nest box at 10am this morning.  Around lunch time today we saw Hurricane on the Scotia building and Brooklyn was hiding in the communications tower.  Maya was napping on the walkway between the two buildings after I had seen her chasing Brooklyn for a while.  I haven't seen the two boys for about three days now.

Maya is sitting on the southeast corner of the McKenzie Seeds Building roof.  Red on the band is clearly visible.  Can't see the boys or the adults - if they are on the tower, the light is from the wrong angle for a clear view.

Brooklyn was sitting in the nest box 6:45am, I have seen him in there a few times early in the morning. Hurricane was perched on the communications tower and I only saw the one juvie this morning, perched on the southeast corner of the Scotia building...............think it was Maya.  :)
