Ah... thanks, RCF. So, was the original hack box just sitting on the roof like that or had it been fastened to the wall, like the wall nestbox is now? ???

With the present webcam view, is that the rooftop nestbox, immediately to the left of the skylight in the foreground? ???

Among other things, that would be what is left of the original hack box, I think it has seen better days.  :)

Thanks, susha. Then, I wonder what that tilted box is? ??? Hey, I think I can see all 3 juvies in the far left hand corner of the roof right now!

No, I'm sure it's not KC.  The roof nestbox is over to the right, off camera now.

As of 4pm, both boys were on the McKenzie roof, one on the northwest corner and the other was on the very top of the flat roof, both were napping by the looks of it.  :)  I was two blocks away when I took the pics because you had to move far enough away to see the one kid on the roof top.

Is  it usually the boys that fledge first or is that because they are smaller than the girls?

Yup.  Girls got more "baking" to do before they fly.  Sometimes its just a couple of days, sometimes a week.  Sometimes the boys go early and the girls are left behind for a long time, sometimes the boys hang out and fledge later so the delay between the sexes is smaller.  Often can depend on the family group and their dynamics.  There are no hard and fast dates for fledging.  Maya is only 41 days old, which is still in the male end of the fledging date range.  Don't suspect she'll be hanging around much longer though - she's small and her brothers and parents are nearby and though she's pretty comfortable on her own, none of them like to be far away at this stage.

If you didn`t move the camera on zoom, I would never have found Maya, or until she moved.
Thanks Rose for all the updates.

The light is flat which makes it even harder ... this is one of her favourite spots to sit so I try to check it when I tour around the roof ...

No rain just clouds. At about 0830 she was up on the northeast roof corner pillar talking to her brothers who were across on the MTS building. One was way up on Brooklyn's girder  and the other lower down. Mom and Dad were up on the McK building. All five were present and accounted for. :)

1315h

Maya has been hanging out in the nestbox napping and watching since about mid-morning.  Bit drizzly today and I don't think the little girl likes to hang out in the rain ...

Thanks TPC.  As far as the time for the project, I was thinking more of how long the researcher would keep putting transmitters on the fledglings to have the sufficient(?) number needed that have transmitters that remain functioning for a year.
Must be very frustrating when they don't transmit for long enough.
So much of a puzzle, then planning, permissions, then implementing...

Thanks TPC!
