From what I have been reading here and there...TPC has been doing allot of "Shoveling". I must say that I'm somewhat surprised that she hasn't done allot more...lol
Now all this shoveling most likely started shortly after July 2nd. (Brandon Banding) This is when Tracy received her brand new "Shiny Red Forum Shovel" from Kinderchick.
It always takes time to get the hang of working with a new tool. In this case "The Shovel"...caution on posting in the forum is now advised.
TPC's "Shiny Red Forum Shovel" can be seen here.

Yahoo bl, it's a wonderous time to be watching. And no one will kick you out of your vantage point. Heck, we've been hanging out in a private parking lot and nobody has bothered us. And we haven't paid a cent. ;D ;D ;D

What a great way to spend an afternoon!  Hanging out with another Phanatic and watching chicks and a parent do their thing.  Shocka88 and I met downtown on the parkade.  Thanks for scarin' the heck outta me Shocka!!!  She probably wasn't being quiet about it, but I was enraptured with the raptors  ;D

Four chicks visible in the nest.  One doing some serious wingercizing on the edge of the nest box off and on.  I'd say that's our boy!  He looks like he is ready to take off.  I sure hope he doesn't choose a day like today as it is SERIOUSLY windy here.  I think I will return this evening to see how things are going.  Really wanted to see a feeding as there would probably be a frenzy in that small space.  :o

The chicks are looking healthy and we didn't see a lot of down from our vantage point.  Amazing how brown they are when you are actually looking at them as opposed to the falcon cam.  And the wingercizing is WAY better in the feather!!!

While we were chatting about the chicks one of the parents, not sure which one, did a bit of a fly-by and landed on the MTS tower across the street.  Sat there calm, cool, and collected for some time and then all of a sudden just started to holler!!  Took off to the north and a minute later could see chasing away a large raptor that was obviously too close for comfort.  Now that was something to see.

Got to watch a bit of soaring after that and then decided that it was time to go.  It's so windy that the adult didn't even have to flap it's wings.  Just played on the currents.  Again, truly magnificent!

Thanks Rose, I am meeting Shocka88 there some time this afternoon so am looking forward to a little bit of wingercizing.  Glad to hear that they are getting close.  I hope that I get to see something for a change.  Of course it's supposed to be hot here so they may just be in hiding.
Anyone in the Brandon area wants to join us it may be around 2 that we are there.

Very beautiful morning on the Parkade in Brandon 9:15am.Saw all four chicks,2 on nest box roof and 2 standing on nest box edge. They are starting to look very sleek and stream lined all with racing helmets. As we watched one chick just opened its wings and glided back to the box, one in the box gave a couple of flaps up to the roof of box with no effort.Only saw one adult at the very peak of the clock tower roof, Zeus maybe? Looks like fledge time is near! ;D ;D

On a sad note...I have come to the end of the Peregrine Banding in Brandon. The last photo has now been loaded.

Truly amazing pictures of our magnificent peregrines.......those flight captures are incredible. It's quite evident that you are "obsessed", else you couldn't produce such wonderful work! Thanks again, definitely appreciated.  :)

Dennis, thanks again for your photography "obsession"!  :-* I still am amazed every time I look at the photo of a parent dive bombing upside down!

went for lunch and parked on the parkade so had to watch the birdies before we went the double decker. One of the adults just flew in and out of the nest box didn't seem to have left any food(no mad scramble). One of the chicks was standing on the roof of the nest box (north corner)surveying the country side, another was standing on the edge of the nest box just below.Nobody was wingersizing. couldn't see the other two chicks. When we came back the chick on top was still there and there more heads visible in the box. Hurricane (darker adult)? was on the light above the clock (south) and Zeus (lighter) was on the very top of the clock tower.Did Any one notice there was a tree (? ) growing out of the roof of the tower above the clock? maybe that could be used as an emergency stop in a high wind! ;) ;)

Truly magnificent.  I too will always remember that day.  It was great to meet so many Phanatics and spend time laughing.  Can hardly wait til next year to do it all over again.
