I'm still tingling from watching those kids and that was two hours ago!!!

It's something I know I will never forget.  And I am really glad it happened because this is my last week to be able to go down there after work to see them.  I have to work full time next week and they will probably be gone by the following week.  :( I am gonna miss that soooo much.  :'(

And that's all I know.....

And that's a lot! What a wonderful afternoon you've had, BirdLover! Sounds as though the parkade is the perfect place to watch the falcon family. Thanks for sharing such an exciting report!

HOLY SHEEP DIP!!  :o  This has been the best day EVER!!!  As I was walking up the ramp to get to the parkade top level I saw FOUR, count 'em four, beautiful chicks soaring and swooping and kacking and playing.  I ran as fast as I could to the top of the ramp in time to see them doing the talon touching, twisting, turning thing.  Man is that ever magnificent!!!  :o ;D :o

They soared around the MTS tower and once around the McK building before two went and landed on the Scotia Band building one on the McK building and one went and displaced Hurricane off the MTS tower.  I was smiling from ear to ear by the time I got to the west side of the parkade where I met RCMF.  She just throws up her hands and says, "Ya missed it!"  I told her, "Nope, I saw the whole thing!"  Right after that the one on the MTS tower flew over to the lower roof of the McK building with lunch, so I am guessing that the kerfuffle when he/she displaced Hurricane was over the noon meal.  It was a big chunk o' meat too.  Well, all the other kids dove right in and that was the last I saw of them.  They prolly had to nap after that big meal.  ;)

RCMF had to leave and I hung around for another half hour or so.  Oh, yeah, and while we were oohing and aahing over what we had just seen a merlin flew right past us no farther than 15 feet away.  I said, "hey that's a merlin." and RCMF said, "really, they are really small."  Well they are compared to our Peregrines.

So while I was waiting to see if any of the kids would show themselves.  In swoops Zeus and displaces Hurricane off the clock tower.  She flew off to the north and he flew up to the Scotia building.  Must have been having a domestic I guess as this was the first that Zeus had been seen today.

Well, it was gettin' pretty darn chilly on the roof and the clouds are really moving in so I decided that I couldn't wait any longer.  It was too cold for me and I didn't have a jacket.  Silly me.

So, went and wandered the mall til bus time.  When I came out the only one visible was Zeus, still on the Scotia building.  And that's all I know.....

What a difference a week makes! I met rcmbf on parkade just at noon, the day was perfect for flying all four chicks and mom were in the air,two of the chicks seemed to be playing tag, soaring and turning  and practising landing and take offs. mom and one chick were flying together and touching talons a couple of times no food transfer yet. Then it was time for a little rest 2 settled on scotia towers, one on a pillar just above decorative ledge McK building and one flew to mts mast made a perfect landing too, but didn't stay long and flew back to roof of McK building. Then one of the chicks on scotia towers (the biggest girl) flew over us and soared and road the air currents until she was just a speck in the sky and almost out of our sight, then she turned and soared back and landed on the clock tower.I had to leave almost too much excitment for this old girl. ;D  ;D

I can't keep a secret, Junk yard was what was on the invitation cause that's what she calls her garden but it did cut into our falcon time.

Well if bccs can have secrets we thought we could have one too! ;D but we did go to see the falcons first and saw all of the chicks, even a poop shoot and we did talk them up at the party where most of the ladies didn't know these beautiful birds had nested in Brandon. can't go down town this am have a date with a raspberry patch so have to leave it to BL and rapid city :(
