raining again! was downtown about noon planned to stay till Bl got there but it started to shower so left for lunch, rcmbf was there too. All the family were present, the chicks were doing flying ,soaring and landing. Two were chasing pigeons making flocks of them fly all over the place. They would be surpised if they caught one.The adults never moved,Hurricane on the light top of tower and Zeus on the mts mast.

Birdlover, if there is a list of tricks that the peregrines do in the name of teaching their fledglings how to fly and survive in the wild, then you are zooming along in checking off having observed them.  Sounds like Rose and RCM are doing well on their list too.

Thank you so very much for sharing the goosebumps and the wonder with all of us!

One of the kids, and I'm thinking it was Luck, tried to fly to the Scotia building and was not getting the height that she needed and here I am saying, "c'mon, get up, get up.." and Hurricane swooped down off the ledge and got under her to get her back up and they circled around til Luck could get onto the McK building.  So, now I know what y'all are talking about when you say the adult gets underneath to help the fledgling get height.   Very cool to witness.  :o
Wow! What an experience to witness that, BirdLover! I had no idea that a parent would or could do that! :o

Isn't it awesome to witness BL!!  They are just amazing in caring for their young, protecting them and ensuring they have the skills the need to survive.

So glad you got to see it yourself, doesn't it make you feel all giddy inside  ;)

There wasn't much going on this morning when Rose and I were there either.
One of them was just flying back and forth from Mck bldg to Scotia bldg. We did see some fancy flying, doing a 360 degree flip which was very cool.  ;D When we left there was one on MTS tower and two in the nestbox. Not sure where other one was, didn't see any parents.

Well, not as exciting a day as yesterday

Sounds exciting to me. . . I didn't know that the parents would or could support the chicks like that, but how amazing to see! I agree with Bccs, though -- you deserve it. Moments like those make everything worthwhile -- the standing around aimlessly with the street people, gawking up into the sky at absolutely nothing, trying to decide "is it a falcon -- no, it's a pigeon". It's all fun, but those moments are magic!

They don't support them so much as get under them and encourage them to get lift.  It is VERY cool.

I get a LOT of people lookin' at me funny.   ;D  And I don't care  :P

If I had my own wheels I would be there before work, after work and in the evening as well.  It is just so exhilarating to watch them do so many cool things.  Sometimes it takes my breath away.
I can't get enough!!

that would be so cool to see a parent go underneath and help the kid up.
