Hi everyone!  I am finally back on after the winter.  This is positively exciting.  I will be checking in on the cams frequently as I do want to see a hatching.  I missed them all last year as I did not get this site until they were all hatched and getting some pantaloons! :D

Has anyone seen or heard from last year's chicks?  do they come back to where they were hatched?

Welcome back RaptorGal and you are in time this year for all the fun.

As for last year's chicks we very very rarely hear anything about chicks from the previous year - unless they die or are injured.  Usually takes a couple of years before they turn up in places where one can read a band number (remember bands are the size of the tip of an adult's little finger) - usually that means a nestsite or a popular roostsite checked by birders who are able to read bands or have big lenses like Wowzer and happen to catch a band on film (so to speak).  Maybe next spring we'll hear something, or the spring after ....

Today is May 6th so we are just under 30 days from 3rd egg and the onset of incubation so hatch watch for me starts now ...  ;)

Saw a shift change about 5 minutes ago. Princess was speaking and suddenly got up and in came himself. It always amazes me the way he so carefully steps over the eggs and then puffs himself up to cover them all. What a great daddy!

And THANK YOU TPC for keeping an eye on all of these cameras, making all of the arrangements with the sponsors and buildings, maintaining the forum, and EVERYTHING else. We know that this is volunteer work and that it has to fit in around your regular job. Good thing you can rest in the winter time (mostly..).

I have such admiration for TPC, but rest during the winter? She is like the energizer bunny. She keeps going and going and going........... :) :-*

BEST NEWS
Have been able to confirm laying dates at the Radisson - 7 days between first and last egg and incubation began right on time with egg #3.
Egg 1 - April 3 @ 0740h
Egg 2 - April 5 @ 0903h
Egg 3 - April 7/8 overnight (between 10pm and 7am - too dark to see on camera)
Egg 4 - April 10 @ 1150h

So say, 28 days of incubation from April 7th is May 5th, but Princess usually incubates for between 31 and 34 days.  So, estimated hatch date range is May 7th to 10th.

Here's a replay of the tentative math ...

I'll see what the view from the outside-box cam looks tomorrow and switch over if it looks good - you will probably be saying "to the left" again, but that's where the birds plunk their eggs and there is nothing we can do about that one I'm afraid.
No worries, the view is good; just was wondering.  ;)
