McDermot has already been travelling out of the City according to his transmitter, so likely too are all his sibs.  They fledged at the end of June and usually offspring hang out for 6-8 weeks after fledging before heading out on their own.  We occasionally see a chick or two later in the fall before migration but most leave the City and that's the last we see of them for the year.

 :'( :'( :'( :'( For me, too soon.

Doesn't mean they won't be around for awhile longer, just that they are starting to expand their horizons.
Time to start getting prepared for the inevitable withdrawal symptoms folks  ;)

I see them too on a daily basis (almost) when I run but hope they'll stick around for a while yet. I'm pretty sure that's what I said but I guess anything here is open to one's own interpretation.

Is it really August already?? I hope our family(s) stick around for a bit longer.
Oh they're still here birdcamfan. I regularly see both adults and chicks on the Rogers and Hydro signs and much to my delight, on the nest ledge.
And my friends at work tell me that they hear them constantly.

On the wing for more than a month -- that's hard to believe! With last night's storm, though, I'm glad they have some experience flying and living on their own so they would find shelter. As you often say, TPC, I guess no news is good news!

McDermot, Fleet, Hart and Jubilee have been on the wing for more than a month, so I suspect they were smart enough to hunker down somewhere sheltered in the storm yesterday.  I did check the cams on both side of the building and no one was about, so they were off elsewhere.

How bad a storm you ask?

CBC Manitoba - Storm leaves broken trees, power lines in wake - includes photos & video

CTV Manitoba - Thousands remain without power after massive storm - photos & video

Winnipeg Free Press - Mayhem took mere minutes - photos & video

Saw three kids above my head on York Avenue Sunday afternoon. Playing tag and chasing each other, Jubilee just a kakking away! Truly joyful!  8)

1821h CDT
Severe thunderstorm watch & warning for Winnipeg.
Used the skycam to look west and the whole thing is totally grey/black.
Winds are coming up and rain, but no "loonie-size hail" yet.

(not my photo - thank you CBC)

Can't be 100% certain, but pretty sure we were watching a falcon flying about from our balcony today - we are close to the river, so it's not a stretch.  Heard it before I saw it, but could not get an image like bccs did!

Yay!! - Love it when the kids come back to visit the homestead!!  8)

Ditto! It's so great to watch them any time but, after they've fledged, a sighting at the nestbox is a gift.   :D

You know, bccs, if that had been me, when Ivy landed, I would have been too shocked to even think about a camera.  I would have just stared at him as long as he was there, thinking, "wow, he came to visit me!".  Hope he comes back to see you for another visit.  :)

I think I would have responded the same way as Jazzerkins.
Reading further down in the post it looks like bccs did get another visit from a Peregrine.  So cool and so lucky bccs.  Looking forward to the photos.

Me too! Kinda a wee bit jealous but thrilled for you bccs!
