The chicks are stuffed after lunch, are mostly asleep and the sun is coming around to keep them warm so all in all not a bad time for the guys to work there, just wish they were quieter ...

Been sitting here plugged into the CBC site so I can hear the chicks ... forgotten how cute a sound they make and how they can squeak and seemingly sleep at the same time ... even with Mum on top of them keeping the company and comfy and warm/cool they still natter away to themselves, to each other and to her.

So much so that she's off again ...  ::)

Did Ivy deliver?

Ivy delivered, Princess grabbed, the chicks begged and Princess stuffed.
Chicks now in a pile, squeaking to themselves, Princess is probably off having something to eat too.
All quiet on the roof, chicks sated, Princess and Ivy aren't protesting.
Sun is working its way across the box so soon the chicks will be able to warm up in the sun ... until "Mumbrella" is required that is ...

The sun is walking its way across the nestbox, soon the kids will be able to bake comfortably on their own.  Might let Princess make a run at pigeon for lunch if Ivy doesn't show up soon ...

Actually heard the chicks a little.  Now that Mom is home and got them warmed up they can grumble and complain a bit.

Thanks for the reassuring update TPC!  Just wish "papa" would show up with some food so we know all is well.

1245 hrs

All is quiet up on the roof, Princess is "on" the kids, no sign of Ivy but he could be manning the battlements in defence of box and chicks.  Just the wind blowing past the microphone and the occasional squeak-squeak from the kids under Mom.  Not sure if there is music going on somewhere downtown but it sounds much more distant and diffuse than anything happening on the roof of the building.

Interestingly, she doesn't appear to be looking for Ivy quite so much right now - before she was looking out and going to the box edge then hopping off and them back a minute or so later.  Now she is watching but much more settled on the chicks.  Can't say how long it will last, or perhaps she knows the "danger" on the roof has passed and Ivy's off to hunt for the family.  Who knows, just waiting and watching ...

Yup, it is hard to keep reminding workers about disturbances around nest boxes.
If there are workers present, Ivy may be maintaining defense and so not able to go and hunt till he feels all is safe.

Hope your weather improves.

Wind seems to be a problem all over.

Someone just came back - is that Ivy??  Being home sick makes me worry too much for the kiddies.
