Lunch time!!! - 3 kids out on the 'patio' stuffing their faces - one little one by itself against the back wall, no interest  ??? Seems to be the smallest kiddie - and no full crop that I can see - don't know why he/she isn't in with the rest of them... :-\

His/her interest was just fine at this last mealtime ... s/he was at the far end of the line and got the first of the food, 3 parcels at the least before turning away and heading back to the wall.  Whole meal took about 6 minutes, not long when you have 4 chicks at this age.  One of the other chicks didn't really push his/her advantage either, so it may just be that they had more at the 7 am feeding ...

Just now, for the second time this weekend, I watched a feeding where one of the wee ones kept sleeping when the food was brought.  The other three kids went nutso, as usual, while Ms./Mr. Cool slept away...opened her/his eyes...yawned...stretched...moseyed on over and jumped into the pile of frenzied feeders.  It was hilarious!  Wonder if it was the same chick both times.

rcm, your pictures are great.

Don't know how we survived without the sound, it adds so much to the story.

One little chick is restless, he's been crying out, can't seem to sleep.  :P

Looks like it's a little bit on the warm side for the Radisson family.

1737 hrs

Ivy is unsuccessfully trying to get 2 of the kids under him.  Think its just an excuse for him to get out of the sun ... now he's just standing there panting ...

1738 hrs

Ivy tried the wings out thingy but none of the kids took him on his offer, now he's just keeping them company ...

Chickpile seems peaceful and the scene in the nestbox is calm.  One little protester keeps making the occasional utterance.  Talking in her sleep or a Princess-in-training? ???

Could be he/she doesn't like being on the outside of the pile (its warmer on the inside) ...

Mid morning snack.

The temp is only 12 - but I was out earlier and it's quite a nice 12. Maybe it's because the sun is trying to come out and there isn't any wind.

Done eating and back to a chick pile in the corner.

Chick pile all huddled up against the wall. Cute. :) I notice that mom & dad are leaving them aone more and more, now that they have passed the "10 day old" milestone.
