The boy with the red anklet has been very active - looks like he's been working on figuring out wings.

He came to the front and caused a "white out" for a bit then decided to do some more bouncing about at the back of the nest.

This is the most action I've seen.

Thank you to the camera gods for switching them back and forth so as to get a great view of the feeding and then of the chicks resting with full crops :-*

You are welcome  ;D

Two inside, two outside.  The outside chicks are our female on one of the boys.  The two inside chicks working on a small pile are both males ...

Just so y'all know, the name choices have already been made but you'll have to wait until next week for voting to begin.  Not sure how much information about each name will be on the actually polling feature on the CBC site, but I'll be providing information here in case it helps folks make their choices ...

How about name the male chicks after our famous Jets....Bobby, Thomas, Anders, Teemu, Dale.....come to mind?

And how about, for the female chick,  Sylvia for our retiring long standing Winnipeg weather lady?

Well, it was a great morning in the classroom, lots of excitement as the kids got to watch the banding! Can't wait to hear the audio as well. We chuckled after the banding as we watched the newly banded babes all huddled in the corner - the kids came up with so many captions to go with the image! And it was so cool to hear them cheer when TPC held up the paper showing the number of males and female! This whole experience has been great - raise a talon if you too have fallen for this incredible little family!  :D

Looking forward to seeing the names that are suggested and placing our votes!

CBC is working on converting the banding video for
a) tonight's evening news shows (1700/1730/1800 CDT - Channel 2) and
b) for me so I can post it on YouTube - but that will take until tomorrow as the conversion has to run overnight, then I'll pick it up and barring any problems, will load up to YouTube right away and y'all will get to watch it all the way through.  We'll also be providing video to the folks at Shaw for use in a piece they are doing for Channel 9.

Forgot to ask Eye-Spy if there will be audio on the video ...  perhaps he'll be on later and he can tell us all then.

There is audio, but some of the things them birdies said to TPC, well, you shouldn't ought'a hear it.   ;)
(as a note, I have not converted this format of video before for utube, but my guess is it should carry through, and should be there when posted. )

I really like that... The Winnipeg Falcons... don't you?
Yes, Leana, I would have to agree, I think that would be a perfect name. ;D

Had the CBC news on tonight, hoping to catch TPC and the banding.  Instead I heard the sports news about naming the new hockey team.  They interviewed some random people about the names - "Jets", "Polar Bears" and..."Falcons"!!!.  They asked a lady  about the name "Falcons" for the team and she replied by saying she didn't like the name, it had no meaning for Winnipeg and wasn't appropriate.  What the heck?!!!    :o??? What a PERFECT name for our new hockey team and ever so fitting since our family lives right next door to the MTS Centre!  If only they had interviewed someone from this forum about the name "Falcons"... they would have received a MUCH different answer!!!

I really like that... The Winnipeg Falcons... don't you?

Sorry gang, forgot to give you the "colours"  :-[

Green - female chick
Yellow - male chick
White - male chick
Red - male chick

Was going to go with light (white, yellow) coloured tape for the males, dark (green, red) for the females, but only one female and we banded her first.  We used the same colour breakdown last year - white was Loki, yellow was Thor, red was Isis-Kali (highly appropriate) and green was Aura.

Voting on the chicks' names will occur next week ...
