Beatrix - she only left yesterday and of all the chicks, she's the one who fledged because she meant to fledge... she fledged like she'd been flying for years.

How many days old was Beatrice when she fledged?  Sorry if this is a repeat question?

I hope they come back now & then - I remember a couple years ago on the East Nest Ledge (Bah!) -the kids used to often come back 'home' in the evenings to hang out and sleep.  :-\
I know ballywing. Wasn't that wonderful?! :D I remember that too.

Me too!  :D

About Carson, we thought about releasing him today but the wind at rooftop level was enough to knock Dennis and I over so decided that he should have an easier time on his re-release.  Have some work to do in the morning, but if after that there is still time and the weather holds, we will see about getting Carson back home ...
It is extremely windy today so I didn't think Carson would be released with such high winds, although I wasn't absolutely certain.

1705h

I did a buzz around with the camera and couldn't see anyone, adults or chicks.  Keep in mind that I can see immediately west of the Hotel for only about 5 blocks (except where the Hydro bulding is).  When Hurricane and her sibs and Loki and his sibs fledged, they used the window ledges on the Hotel as safe havens from the wind.  Given the wind as well, they could just be hanging out out of the wind and out of sight of the camera.  When the wind dies down, they may return to the nestbox.

Beatrix - keep in mind that it too Cade 2+ days to return to the nestbox, she only left yesterday and of all the chicks, she's the one who fledged because she meant to fledge.  Carson & Fyfe bumped each other and Cade didn't quite make the corner of the nestbox when he was jumping up from the ledge.  Beatrix, she fledged like she'd been flying for years.

Coming back to the box - now that Beatrix has fledged, there is no one to company at the nestbox or ledge.  When Carson returns, if he hangs out for awhile before trying his wings again, Cade and/or Beatrix could return to keep him company.  But we have had had other nests - Hurricane, Chinook and Mistral most recently - who, as I recall, never did come back to the box or ledge once they fledged.  Vesper and her brothers, Loki and his siblings both did and did for quite awhile.  Will be interesting to see who Carson, Cade and Beatrix take after.

I'm hoping to get to the other recent questions this evening ..
Hope the camera's okay, Dennis - you too, of course :)

I thought about that at lunch time .. the wind was crazy.

I almost got knock on my butt and then had visions of poor Carson tumbling through the air if he tried to fly again as soon as we released him :'(

Who ever is on the air canadA building is having a snack. I can't see the front of it. There is the odd feather flying

AC bird is running across the roof from breakfast to an inside edge, by the running style, I would suspect that it is Beatrix ... perched looking west now
I hope it was Ms Beatrix, sounds like from all the reports I am reading that  there are two juvies running around on roofs and so on, so that is great news!! I was exciting this morning to see Cade fly off the nest box as I had missed all the fledges, except of course for the one that was video taped and I was so appreciative of that! :)

FYI, my computer crashed and I was able to again refresh and delete old files. When was I able to bring up my favourite site, I read some of the posts on the CBC site. There are those who have asked good questions, such as how to read posts from TPC and some asking what are those things that look like a piece of straw stuck in the backs of the Brandon chicks. I don't think they have heard about the transmitters. In my opinion, they should be told how to log onto the forum, step by step. I am unable to log on to answer their questions. Perhaps, someone else can log in and answer some of their inquiries. If I am overstepping the boundaries of the forum, I sincerely  apologize.  :-* Thankfully for the fledgewatchers, cooler temperatures provide. Again, thank you for being there for us. :-* :-*
