We finally have sun here in Edmonton. we have had nothing but rain and hail and thunder and a few twisters.  this is how it has been for a few weeks .  Now we have really hot weather for about 4 days.  You know what that means though. More storms because of the hot weather :) :)

I hope Trey and Princess see that is is nice and dry in the nest box and to get moving.

Glad they are still sited

Still waiting for our egg egg to hatch. Miss Edmonton radissson  is being a gret mom so far.

Stay safe everyone

I emailed them to you about half an hour ago.. let me know if you don't get them, or maybe check your spam files.  the pictures are quite big, so... maybe it takes a long time for them to travel the 401 and hop off at London.

Nope no pictures yet Loriann

Yeah TPC we here in Ontario certainly seem to be having more wild weather then we've had in a fews years. And Loriann I ain't controling the weather so I can't take the blame for the weather.  I love t-storms, just get nervous when they issue Tornado warnings. As much as I would like to get apicture of one, I wanted to be a long ways away from it when I do lol

Well quit sending it to me... we've had enough already!..but should be grateful we did not get the tornados that Manitoba had last night.

We are already having more funnel clouds and tornadoes this year than we have in a whole sackful of other years ... *sigh* ....

I don't know how you manage.. i'd be a raging basket case of fear if i saw those coming at me. I don't like thunderstorms never mind whirling winds and tornados.  Hope all is well out there, did not hear the reports of damage, and if nothing else this forum has made me more aware of all of you out there, and makes me take more notice of what happens outside of Ontario.

keep safe.

well it has gotten all the way up to a balmy 18C here in NB.  Cloudy, forecast is cloudy, cloudy with more clouds......with showers, rain and the odd thunderstorm thrown in.  First glimpse of sun should be on Tuesday. Not too windy however, and we have gotten lots and lots of rain here also, looks like a good weekend for campfires and toddys to help keep you warm!  8)

Today's weather sucks, but at least it sucks because the good stuff is right on its tail and we should have at least 4 days of great weather after it!

Princess and Trey are still on the Hotel, usually later in the day, but still the cutest couple in downtown Winnipeg.  Larry and I decided to be optimistic and proactive and we went to test out the camera we installed on the nestbox many many months ago just to be sure that we could use it to spy on the nestbox if a miracle should happen in the next couple of days.  Camera works like a dream though I will need to clean up the lens a bit if we ever have to use it - its gotten a wee bit dusty from lack of use!  With all the rain we have had over the last 24 hours, the box is dry as a bone which I think will be appealing to the birds if they do pull an egg out of the hat, so to speak.  It would be nice to be able to fire up the CBC server again but that will be up to Princess and Trey ...

Its a reasonable question Moonstar, and the answer is yes the chicks would have time before migration, but only just.  That's the other reason for being pretty sure that if we don't have a renest by Canada Day, then we aren't going to have one this year.  They may be hardwired to reproduce, but they know when its too late in the year.

Don't get me wrong, the chances of them renesting now are very very slim.

If by some miracle Princess and Trey do re-nest, do the chicks have a chance to be strong enough and mature enough for their migration flight in the fall?

Normally the chicks would be close to fledging in a few weeks. If they were to re-nest, and by the time they incubate and the eggs hatch and the chicks grow it would be near the end of summer when they would be ready to fledge. That only gives them a month and a bit to learn to hunt and get strong enough at flying to make a long trip to some where warmer for the winter.

Just some thoughts, questions and concerns.

As much as I would love to see some chicks this year, I do not want to hear that anymore do not make it.
