I kinda thought that's what the transmitter was about, have read about how they are doing that to track the migrations of birds. Some species travel amazingly long distances one way to get to their wintering grounds. Never mind turn around 8 months or so later and do it all over again and fly north.

Tracy, you mentioned that there are three territories in Winnipeg.  One is obviously the Radisson, downtown, the second is West Winnipeg around Ness (if I'm remembering the posts correctly).  I don't recall hearing about the third area.  Is it top secret or can you let us know in which area of the city it is?  Is there anything we can do to help make an area more desirable for the peregrine, assuming there is a building that would possibly fit the requirements?

Third territory is centred on the University of Manitoba Fort Garry Campus.  We have had other nests in the downtown area, but they were abandonned after a single year because of the stress of pairs nesting too close to one another.  We have not had any recorded territorial battles or combat deaths to date (and knock on wood we never will!) and the birds that nested close to the Radisson were offspring/cousins.  In all cases, the nestsite were very hidden from the Radisson pair's view and to date, none of those chicks or the adults have been reported elsewhere.

Liz, the female that lost her site last year has a transmitter on her back and they can track her. they track her migration route every year. we know  where she migrates to and on the way back we know approx time of arrival in our area
We knew that the night before she hit the nest site she spent the night in red deer (i.5 hours away)
That is how I know where she is roosting now. We actually went where she went last year and she was  there but the tracker  told the biologists where she was before that.
I still cannot get the pictures to enlarge, or do they??
am I allowed to post a picture of her here so you can see the transmitter???

I have shed many tears since watching cams and my husband finally told me that if I was going to continue watching I had to accept the bad with the good.  It is hard sometimes but when i see one just born I am reminded what it is all about :) :)

Dennis lets me go through his photos to pick a few for the exclusive use of the Project.  Unfortunately for Dennis, who really wants to post right away, I usually have a ton of stuff to do and don't get through them as quickly as I (and he) would like!!!  And Dennis, I'm almost done with the all!!!!  :D

Guess that means I finally found my closet, too!   There's four of us in the accountants' closet (3 chicks and Eye-spy!) ?

Whoo hooo !!!! I have a closet!!!!

Must be because we stare at the computer all day long anyway and everybody figures that well just break into a monotonous tirade about how to do taxes and whatnot..  hehhheehe.  ;D ;D    besides you have to have something to take your mind off of it when you're looking for those darn pennies that are ALWAYS missing!!

Can't be that hard Eye-Spy,  I have adding machine, love cameras (taking pictures anyway, not having taken) and even know GAAP!    Already have hubby though.  Must be more of us out there!

What is it about adding machines, cameras & peregrines??   How many of us are (closet?) accountants??  Yikes.......
