In the upper right hand corner of my picture, above the ledge, I keep seeing motion flickers - in the past usually it meant a shift change or at least food.  Can anyone see what it is?

...i believe that since the camera angle was changed that you can now see a portion of the street below;  the "flickers" are probably pedestrians, RUNNING!!! because it is REALLY coming down out here...

Now I see the down side of the site and why there is a big drain.  The wall above the birds is catching water and it runs down into the basin, as well as the stuff that naturally lands in the basin where the birds nested.

Wow did that whole area fill up fast.  When I started my last post, there were two separate pools.  When I finished, the entire site was water covered, and the part of Princess' wing on the stones looked to be at least a cm underwater.  Fortunately the weather has let up some, at least in the NE Kildonan area.

Oh my gosh those poor birds! The ledge is a little lake with one soggy looking bird sitting in the corner. I hope the chicks are doing ok under there. Oh my heart breaks for them but I know they will be alright. Hopefully the weather will settle down a bit so the little ones can dry out! If this doesn't convince them that the nextbox would have been a better nest site then I don't know what will!

That pools of water makes me wonder what is going on under the parents.  It's not just the chicks that are stressed.  The parents have to spread out their feathers and try to cover and warm the chicks, when there may be water pooled under the parent.  Heating all that to keep the chicks alive has to be a stress on the parents.

In addition, from my experience as a hunter, game tends to go to ground, find the dryest spot they can and huddle under the best water protection they can get.  Game is not behaving like normal, and from the parents perspective, a lot harder to find and get.  We've seen how often the chicks want to feed (anyone with teenagers knows this one really well), so that's another stressor for the parents.

Whichever parent this is, and from the coverage I would guess Princess, has headed for the high ground and put walls almost all around to cut down on wind.  Still, it is a wet, miserable day to be a parent.

All that said, falcons survive.  Before we get too worried about the weather, here is a video link to a falcon in a dive from a National Geographic production.

OH MY STARS!!!  Just checking back in...it looks miserable there.....but I'm sure Princess is keeping them nice and dry...but feeding?  This is the first streaming cam I've watched where the parent and kids have been exposed to the elements...maybe Trey could feed while Princess serves as an umbrella...

It looks like the weather is nasty there.. will keep all the small bits crossed for the 'kids'...

I looked at the camera first thing this morning ( 6 am Toronto time) and the moisture was just ooozing down the lens.

It is raining like stink (10-20-30 mm today) and the winds are gusting to 60 km.  Chance of a thunderstorm.  From the forecast it sounds like the T-storm and the gusty winds are just for this morning, but maybe I'm being too optimistic.

As for thermoregulating, they should be able to do that by Monday-Tuesday.  However, Trey and Princess will probably try to keep them covered in this kind of weather until such time as they really can't fit under them anymore.  Wet chick = unhappy chick = physically stressed chick.

I have never wanted chicks to grow quickly, always lots of things to do and love to watch them grow.  This year however, I have had to catch myself a couple of times from saying "I can't wait until you " umph *slaps hand over mouth*.  Am not going to say it, am not going to say it!

Wow everyone was up early today!
It's 8:15amAST and I can't see a darn thing. I can tell its raining but the image is so blurry I can barely make out where the birds are. Must be either a huge raindrop on the cam or its really foggy haha. Hopefully it will clear up on its own in a while. Until then...

Good morning Everyone,
Can't see the birds yet this morning.  The picture is fuzzy.  It is raining out there.  Temp is 12 degrees and wind is NE 37 KM but no gusts.
It will be a wet and cool one for them today.
Hopefully soon the chicks will be able to regulate their body temperature on their own.

Well everyone have a great day and enjoy watching this famous Falcon Family.  Unfortunately I won't be able to watch them until tomorrow.

I look forward to reading all the posts.
