An absolutely beautifull feeding going on now. Way to go Princess. And too funny, Trey showed up with more food, not unusual for him. Greatest dad in the world in my books.

Sad to say that I have just posted the last of the Nest Box installation photos. The last photo in the gallery (Trey) leaving the nest ledge was the same photo that was used by the Winnipeg Free Press May 27th.

Thanks fore the great pics, Dennis.  And thanks for the heads-up about the May 27th paper -- I missed that and will go hunthing.

I was walking to my car and then driving home (in Fort Garry) at the worst of the storm.  I was so concerned about the falcons.  The wind seemed to be from the west which is good for them.  When I got home I turned on my computer right away. Checked out the web cam.  Princess looked a bit wet but other wise fine.  She is all dry now.  Wind is ruffling her feathers on her back a bit.

We've all been there in one form or another, whether it be kids, sibs, nephews, nieces grand kids or just  someone you love.
The great maternal instinct, we've all got it and love having it. It'll never go away. ;D ;D

Yes she really does not look very dignified.  Ah, the sacrifices made for one's children.

She is starting to look damp however, its ruining her "doo".
;D ;D ;D And now it has really ruined her "doo", however, hang on Princess, a little further to the west the skies have cleared and I am sure that the rain will let up soon at the Radisson.

Sorry for the delay answering questions, I'm in workshops for the next couple of days so not much (if any) access until later in the day/evening.

Uncovered Chicks - not a problem.  Adults are there to keep them warm, cool, dry.  In the mornings, the ledge heats up in the morning sun as does the wall which re-radiates the heat back out from about 8:30-9:00 am onward until a bit after the sun has gone behind the building.  So when you see the chicks uncovered, there will be at least one adult while the chicks are this age within a few feet of them at all times.  The other adult is usually not far away either.  If they are "off", its because the chicks don't need them to keep them warm, cool, dry.

Sound - have mentionned this before in another thread, but this is as good a time as any to reiterate.  No sound at the Radisson - ledge is a good 50 feet away from the nestledge and there is no way to filter out the environmental noise (traffic, sirens, wind, etc) so you can hear the birds other than when they are broadcasting very loudly.  In the nestbox we have a problem with wind howling through the louvres so that will probably not be a good location either for a mike.  The Brandon nest however would/will probably be perfect when we manage to get a cam going there ...

Think those were the only unanswered questions so far ...

1649 hrs (local) - looks like Princess in the bin and the chicks are fidgeting under her so she keeps bobbing a bit.  Not much wind which is great and at this stage should be too difficult for her to keep the little darlings covered.  Watch her head, if its up, she's not too concerned.  When its down and she's all tightly closed up, that's alot of rain and she's working at keeping the chicks dry.  At the moment, don't think she's having much of a problem.  She is starting to look damp however, its ruining her "doo".

Just checked the cam, and considering the crappy weather, our bird looks quite dry and out of the wind.
Small mercies and good luck, gotta love them
