Is there a place in the blog for how the 2006 hatchlings progressed?
Did they land on the street or on window ledges?
I don't think so. We know Hurricane was in Grand Forks in the spring (April, I think) but have heard nothing about him since then, or about his brother and sister at all.
As I recall, at least one was rescued by a bus driver from the middle of Portage Avenue in the early hours of the morning. I don't remember about the other two.
Yes , that was 2007 on the west side, my first year watching.
I was asking about the last successful brood raised on the east ledge
in 2006.
2006 - three chicks, 1 female & 2 males - respectively, Radisson, the Little Daredevil & Bandit
- Radisson was incident free as I recall, returned the nestledge a couple of times in the first week then dropped right off the radar until she turned up in Edmonton last year.
- The Little Daredevil died less than 18 hours after fledging when he collided with the Kensington Building in the early ours of the morning following his early evening fledge.
- Bandit came to the ground and needed some vet care for a soft tissue injury; was re-released at the Hotel a week or two later and hung around the Hotel on and off until migration; haven't heard from him since
2007 - four chicks - 2 females, 2 males - respectively, Taku, Mistral, Chinook & Hurricane
Taku - had a neurological accident (stroke kind of) and half her brain died; affected her balance centre and she toppled from the nestbox to her death.
Mistral - half the size of her siblings, so far as we know one of, if not the, smallest female peregrine chick on record; ended up on the ground the day she fledge, uninjured but kept at rehab until Chinook ready for release; no reports since migration
Chinook - fledged almost a week before Mistral but 3-4 days (as I recall) after Hurricane and he was rescued by Transit staff; spent 7-10 days in rehab for soft tissue injury; Chinook & Mistral released at the same time; no reports since migration
Hurricane - fledged first, and a few days early as I recall; no injuries, no close calls; no reports since migration until this spring when he was identified in Grand Forks for one day only - no reports since.
