Back from lunch guys. I saw one of the boys on the south ledge just as I was walking, then saw a parent leave the ledge.
2 on the drain  and one on the north ledge right now.

Whenever the first one fledges, I'm expecting it to be a terrible stretch of time between when he disappears from the edge until we know it was a safe first flight. You "old birds" will have experienced this before, but I'm imagining it's super stressful.

I think so too bev.  I'm hoping Tracy is correct and they will prefer a morning fledge (even though that means I will likely miss it).

right now they all look a little hot and tired, and kinda fidgety.  like kids on a long road trip.
Let's hope for a morning fledge...and preferably not on a week day.  ;)
Think they'll listen??   ::)

And once again, one of the boys is perched on the edge, looking as though he could just launch himself into the air. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he'll wait a bit.

I thought I saw the same thing Bev, twice now actually.  Or could be the parents just afraid to get ambushed...lol.

was that a food drop or a tease.I think a tease
I was afraid those 2 at the 3 would know one of them over the edge.

Wait a few more days guys and then sister will not be far off.

Thanks, Pchemist. I'll keep my fingers crossed that our girl behaves herself. There is certainly a lot of her to get off the ground!

no worries debc52 - this is how we all learned!

The females are larger and take longer to develop, so that is why we want her to wait for a few more days than her brothers.  She sort of knows by instinct, but sometimes a lone female can fledge early if the others go and don't come back to visit.

I'm hopeful they will come visit her though; they do seem to hang out together which is good, I think.

Why does the female fledge so much later that the males (hopefully)? How does she know to wait? Sorry - new at this and confused.

One parent just came to the ledge to check in and all 3 chicks came running and then the parent flew away.
It is around this time when the parents see that the chicks are almost ready
that they will fly by with food attempting to lure them to fledge. Tracy knows
 the info on this.
