What exciting news! I have been checking the blog since early this morning and now am busting at the seams with this news.

Our beautiful Trey could be back! I was describing him yesterday to a friend who works at Oak Hammock, his beautiful black head, truly a regal peregrine!

Can't wait for more news.

So while I still need to see the band to be totally sure, it sure does look like our rockstar is home.  That and Princess was finally doing the "hey there sailor" thingy  ;)

Definitely the best news I've heard all day!  ;D

Tracy.......ever thought of changing the bands to ones with chips in them, then installing readers in there favourite sitting places.  That way you could get a read out of who it was ?  Don't know if such thing is on the market, and wouldn't help with P & T, but could be useful in the future with others.

Its a neat idea and I have thought of it, usually when I'm frustrated tried to read band numbers (hmmm that sounds familiar).  Unfortunately nothing like that out on the market - and if we used the vet chip, we'd have to catch them which a) is virtually impossible and b) could be dangerous considering the kind of environment they live in, the chances for collision are huge in cities.  So while I'd like to spray paint the little buggers pink, give them really big bands, put a chip under their skin, reading the bands isn't difficult, its just that the birds, by their nature, are hard to keep in sight long enough to try and read a band.  But then, if it was easy, where would be half the fun?  ;D

Okay, Dennis did send me another photo, full frontal so to speak.  Didn't help me out though until Dennis reminded me that it was full on in the bright sun and a fair distance away.  Just as I was going to check out the second photo Dennis sent, one of the birds landed on the end of the sign so quick zoom in and I snapped a bunch of images before he/she/it flew off again.  What I can see on these images are much more encouraging - the bird has a full black cap, the same pale pink (rather than uniform salmon) wash across the white breast feathers, more speckles than bars on his belly and sides and a fairly large white breast.  So, some comparisons with photos from previous years and trying to account for variations in posture - 9 out 10 times I catch them napping on the sign, so relaxed and tucked up, today, alert and very erect.  I even compared the images to the bird I managed to get only one image of on the 26th.  So while I still need to see the band to be totally sure, it sure does look like our rockstar is home.  That and Princess was finally doing the "hey there sailor" thingy  ;)

Tomorrow morning, hopefully he will be in the mood to be photographed on an east-facing, sunny morning perch.  And that Dennis has been able to go through the rest of his photos ...

Ohhhh please let it be Trey.  A good sign if she was talking to him, unless she was yelling at him to go away, if it wasn't Trey.
Patiently waiting to hear.
