I think Kinderchick can probably bypass the mother-son mating discussion with her kindergarten Kinderchicklets!!!  :o

Enough probably to show how he is different from Trey and how much he is like Trey in appearance and as a Daddy.  So long as this nest of theirs is successful (he's new at this but Princess isn't) it will be his first clutch and he may have a few more tab A in slot B situations to work out - what comes to mind is how exactly do you feed a day old chick who can barely hold its head up!!!

it is not too late yet for Trey to return. and if he does, it will be what it will be. and hopefully a best case scenario. but if Trey does come back I cannot see him giving up this site unless he has to.

I am still waiting here in Edmonton. so some have made it through before the storm and some maybe had to wait it out.

But, having said that, I also think it would be interesting to see Princess and Ivy mate, and watch the differences in raising young. How much different will Ivy be from Trey ? Just think, a whole new set of questions for Tracy !  ;)

He will be different - maybe lots, maybe not so much.  Trey is alot like his Dad except that he won't push females off the nest to incubate, T-Rex was a very protective Dad and his first mate was willing to let T-Rex do most of the work.  With his second mate, Madame, it was much more share and share alike - I could never tell who was going to be incubating when I turned up.  Trey was able to share more of the work with Madame when he was with her, but with Princess, she's dominant on the eggs.  Ivy is very quiet so I suspect Princess will still be top peregrine on the eggs/chicks - that and he's new at this, he's bound to be a bit of a goof at first.  At the moment he's all energy - in and out of the box all the time.  He does make nice nest scrapes however.  As for raising the kids, I suspect they could be very well fed, that he can do very well!!  But mostly, it will be his personal preferences - he has yet to sit on Trey's Throne, but he has his own very special little perch than none of our other birds have ever used!!! (Dennis has a contest running at present to locate the perch so I'm not going to spill the beans on that one).

But, do have a question Tracy, lets say for argument sake, Trey comes home in the next couple weeks after Princess and Ivy are well into it, any chance Trey would take up with Jules and forget about Princes for this season ?

I think it would be highly unlikely ... he's been top-dog downtown for more than 10 years, unlikely that he would give that site up without a fight, particularly since his lady friend is there as well.  If he turns up, it will be interesting to see what happens ....

Such interesting reading, I too was rooting for Trey but what will be will be!! Out here in Brandon we would be glad to have a falcon,(any falcon) of the opposite sex appear on the scene. ::)

I've been watching P & T for a few years now and silly me, they seem just like my kids. You want them to grow up safe, go out on there own, have kids etc, etc, etc. So of course I want Trey to come home and take care of business. But, having said that, I also think it would be interesting to see Princess and Ivy mate, and watch the differences in raising young. How much different will Ivy be from Trey ? Just think, a whole new set of questions for Tracy !  ;)

Wow, so many choices, so many different scenarios. Cross my fingers that no bird is harmed in the telling of this tale.

I just drove by and she's still supervising the Portage avenue traffic from the East ledge. It was the first time this year I've had a chance to go down and look-so nice to see her "in the flesh".

I was downtown around 9:30, and she was preening and not doing much else.

1130 hrs - Princess has been sitting on the point of the nestledge in the sun all morning.  Doesn't look like she's much interested in moving anytime soon either ... no sign of Ivy or anyone else within the cam-zone ...

Trey could come home, Princess could abandon Ivy and Trey & Princess could work on babies of their own (well, maybe their own ;)), Ivy could go back out to Jules (if she hasn't found a man yet)

Princess could nest, have eggs, Trey could come home, she could abandon eggs and start all over again with Trey, Ivy goes home (same scenario as above) ...

Princess could nest, have eggs, Trey could return, Ivy could be unwilling to give up "his" new territory, testerone tantrums ensue, someone wins, someone loses but hopefully not loses fatally ...

Princess could nest, have eggs, hatch out chicks, raise chicks, fledge chicks, migrate south, migrate north again, hook up with Trey and Ivy has to explain his absence to Jules (if she'll have him) ...

Princess could nest, have eggs, hatch out chicks, raise chicks, fledge chicks, migrate south, migrate north again, hook up with Ivy again, raise chicks again ... and their chicks turn out to be just as successful as Princess' and Ivy's kids

Princess could nest, have eggs, hatch out chicks, raise chicks, fledge chicks, migrate south and not be heard of again.  Ivy and Jules return, Ivy knows what he is doing now and they have the best territory in Winnipeg and a new reigning pair are in power ... and its a smooth transition from one pair to another rather than a site in contention and no nesting pairs!!

... there are probably more scenarios, but those are the most probable ...
