I think Alison that the word "permissible" is somewhat wrong here. Only Tracy can call that, her forum, her sandbox.

Sigh . . . Bccs, I don't often disagree with your viewpoint, but do disagree with this. Like it or not, we all set the bounds of "permissible", by our reactions, by our reply posts. True, Tracy absolutely has the last word, if you will (as she should), but all of us help to create the environment with every one of our posts. There's no way we'll ever all agree on much (not with 400+ members, some more vocal than others, of course  ;) ) but, as comments from Ballywing and BCBird suggested, one of the reasons this forum is so great is that, despite our varied views, we treat each other with respect and continue to express ourselves. I'm all for that!

Posting our feelings, whether of unhappy or happy thoughts, does serve a purpose.
It is sharing with those we trust to listen.

Two years ago the forum was flooded with comments as we grieved The Lost Chicks.  We posted and we posted, knowing nothing could make the reality different.  Eventually we moved on, and the forum gained strength. Its members realized the safe and considerate place it was then, and of course we believe it to be true today!

Respect should rule, and if it doesn't, there is always TPC and her shovel!

actually a lot of us have not been making too much out of Trey not coming back out of respect for Tracy and her feelings of loss.. We all wish that it was different but accept that this is the circle of life.   We all miss him but we all understand that it could happen.  Tracy has a deeper connection with him than any of us could ever hope to have and out of repect for that we've chosen to focus on the positive and refrain from pointing out the obvious loss we all feel..  this is in no way reflecting on our feelings of loss, and disappointment, rather a reflection of looking forward, being positive about things we cannot change, and looking forward to a happy tomorrow...... if Trey was human, and capable of understanding loss, this is what he'd want.. for his legend to live on for us to all throw our support and positivity behind this..

Nobody is denying it and I don't see why we have to be silent  ??? Let's not get our shorts in a knot, we're a great forum, lets keep it that way and hopefully keep on being able to express ourselves.  :-\

I think Alison that the word "permissible" is somewhat wrong here. Only Tracy can call that, her forum, her sandbox.
What Allikat was expressing here was that we must live with what is. Period.
Yes, we are all missing Trey, but to have the same emotions being posted repeatedly serves no purpose but to make us sad.
There are few here who do not recognize Trey and his wonderful existance and contribution to the continuation of the peregrines. No one, that I have read or talked with is pushing him aside.
Rather, we are moving forward to the next generation, and grieving silently.
Each and every one of us has a soft spot in our hearts for Trey. We miss him., we want him back.
But, that appears to not be on the slate for this year.
So, as Allikat said, let's move forward. This is what's happening, and to deny what is, well, to me is wrong.

We all wish that it would have been different, but it is what it is.  We must take joy and delight in what we have, and not dwell on what we wanted to have.
Are we not lucky that Princess has accepted Ivy and that chicks are coming?!
Are we not lucky that it appears that Jules may have found a mate?!
So, instead of mourning for Trey (which we shouldn't be), we should be taking joy in that fact that nature prevails, and that Trey and Princess' son, Ivy, is continuing the bloodline.

Let's all enjoy these moments, and move forward.

So it is not permissible to be concerned that Trey, long-time resident male at this nest, has not returned, and we should "move forward"?

I think Trey deserves recognition and appreciation for his great contributions to the restoration of the peregrine population, rather than being seemingly pushed aside as if he were not important.

I also agree completely with you guys..... We all know why we're here, and we're all happy to have any breeding & continuation of the species going on - but we're also emotional humans and do become attached to our local Peregrines.  :) - And that attachment is a good part of what helps keep us so focused & interested & loyal to the cause.  :D Nothing wrong with voicing some disappointment that our favorite King of the Skies hasn't shown up yet. We'll vent, fret, wonder and then get over it, and move on to supporting the new relationship that seems to be forming.   :-X... We'd all like to see Trey arrive and know that he's ok, probably TPC more than anyone. Our Leader has to deliver a professional outlook on the subject, she's a scientist and her aim is to educate and promote interest & support. The rest of us tend to humanize and want things to be 'just so' - and change isn't always easy - vocalizing this isn't wrong, it's communication. So we'll say 'GO FOR IT Princess & Ivy', we're with you all the way!! - but Trey, you're still our hero and we hope you come back some day!.  ;D ;D

I am very supportive of the Recovery Project and am thrilled that we will have chicks here in Winnipeg. But that does not mean that I don't miss Trey.

Well said, Kinderchick! Like you, I am pleased (and relieved) that we will have chicks here this year with Princess and Ivy -- and, as a couple of people have posted, yes, we ARE here for the peregrines. I don't think it diminishes that, though, to acknowledge that we miss Trey and, almost as important, wish we knew his fate. Still, soon your little chicklets will be excitedly watching the web cam, waiting for eggs to hatch, then waiting for chicks to fledge -- such an exciting time ahead for all of us!

Just a comment. I think everyone is glad there will be chicks here and are in the Now. but as people come back to the site and are checking in, they are just  expressing their sadness at Trey not being here. They are not ,not glad to see , new relationships taking place.  We are all here for the peregrines .
Most of us have already had our turn at it earlier and have had the chance to now accept what is now. Others are just  now expressing their feelings.
Thank you for posting this comment, bev... yes, I am happy to hear that Princess will most likely be laying some eggs in the very near future, even with Ivy being the father. I am very supportive of the Recovery Project and am thrilled that we will have chicks here in Winnipeg. But that does not mean that I don't miss Trey. He was a wonderful peregrine and a great father. Although, I do have some new 'chicklets in my classroom this year, who do not even know Trey, my last year's 'chicklets, who are now in Gr. 1, bonded with Princess and Trey in a very special way and were looking forward to seeing them both again. However, I do know that "all will be well" with the 'chicklets, when Princess lays her eggs and the chicks begin to hatch, whomever the father is!  :)

Both birds around the east side for a bit, one on the ledge and one on the sign.  Just took off, one after the other.

0945 hrs - wee boy'o... ...tends to start or entirely slide off the letters.  Its very very cute.  Like the cosmos saying, "you should be in West Winnipeg" and giving him a little poke to get him sliding ....

... but he keeps hanging in there  :D

You really made me LOL, Tracey!

How soon can we expect our Princess to start laying eggs???? Can't wait.  :)

1145 hrs - no one in the cam-zone right now ...

Thanks Pam & bccs for the photos, they all actually look like Ivy ... not surprising, if Princess is getting closer to laying, she's off hunting and napping ...
The top three pictures were taken within one minute of each other,  most definitely 2 birds, Pam saw them too.
