The story behind the photo from Kinderchick:
I took the photo of the "Olympic Sparrow" when I was in Vancouver this past summer, burdi. There were 2 giant bird statues along the waterfront in the Olympic Village. They were erected for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Quite spectacular! 8)

The story behind the photo from Susha:

Congratulations to all the photographers!
If I change my mind after voting will I be able to change my vote for a particular photo as long as it is in the allotted time frame?
-
Yep...you can change your mind as many times as you want. By doing this will not add extra votes for a photo.
When you vote the number goes up...change your mind and the vote is taken away from that photo.
Hope this helps.

'Fraid so ... but you can change your mind as much as you like right up until the deadline ;)
-
Well, that was a difficult decision. Kudos to the great photographers!
-
Before voting in the "Give me your "Best Shot" photo contest", what should we consider when judging the photos?
Possibly a or b, OR?
a) Choose the one we perceive to be the best quality photo.
b) Choose the one we feel is just the best photo - for whatever our reason may be - such as the cutest, most unique, very pretty, funny, most striking, etc.
I see that voting ends tonight.
-
Good questions Burdi and it really depends on you. :)
If quality makes more sense to you, that's fine. If the cute factor is irresistible, then vote that way.
The only requirement is that you vote for your favourite.
Good luck ;)

Thank you for answering TPC, although this is going to be a tough choice.
I'll probably choose my "b" option - the one I feel is the best photo - for whatever reason I decide to base it on. But then, females are known to change their minds.
By the way, all of the photos are great! I have to go out for a while, so hopefully I can decide what to base my choice on, and do so before midnight. :D
-
Congratulations to Ballywing and Doreen respectively for their winning photos - well done! ;D
And I have put the photographers' names beside their photos if you want to see who took what.

Thank you everyone. ;D
The little hawk stayed around from Sept 9 - 13.
It love to sit on the deck rail so I took a lot of picture. Such a beautiful bird.
We have a huge feeder with so many sparrow we know why it stayed.
-
Congratulations Ballywing and Doreen, and thank you for posting an explanation of your photo.
I would like to see a brief explanation of the remaining photos as well ... otherwise they will remain a mystery. ;)

Nice idea Burdi :)
This is the quiet time of the year, so folks don't log in as regularly as during the nesting season so it may take a bit of time to get everyone's stories.
I will also add the stories to the original post as well so folks can appreciate the story & photo together.

Thank you TPC - that’s great if you’re willing to add the stories to the original post. Hopefully at least a few of the mysteries will be unlocked. :D
If there should be another photo contest in the future, perhaps each participant could submit a little info along with their entry.
