2013 NESTING SEASON
Oh my. I've been watching this livestream cam all day. A horribly wet rainy day for this nest on the roof of the Campbell Ewald building, but mom is doing a terrific job at keeping her young'uns dry and fed.

Here's some information on Cooper's new cam from their website ...
After years of sightings, a pair of rare Peregrine Falcons laid three eggs on the roof of Campbell Ewald, making them the first peregrine parents in Warren, Michigan. Watch the live video of these two first-time parents as they prepare for their triplets to hatch sometime in May.
***NOTE: The live camera may be turned off for maintenance at various times, so please just check back later. If you choose to "follow", you will be notified when the camera is live.
Besides the link to UStream, here is this site's main webpage = http://cefalcons.com - photos, information and links to videos

Aww, despite parents' best efforts one of the chicks died overnight. Actually there were just two chicks (I'd thought three) and one unhatched egg yesterday. Mother is still brooding the one live chick and the egg. The dead chick is still in nest and it's sad to watch Mom go over to check on it. Surviving chick looks pretty fragile too. Nature sure can be cruel sometimes - looks like it is still cold and windy on that roof.

I watched one of the parents pull the deceased chick away from the other and nudge it. The parent covered it for a few minutes then went back to the other chick, very sad to watch. :(

Sad News about Amelia ~ Second peregrine falcon chick dies in Warren after flying into a window.
A second peregrine falcon chick that was living atop the Campbell Ewald building in Warren has died. Both chicks were hatched in mid May. The first died within two weeks of being hatched. The second, named Amelia, died Saturday – days after she was injured after flying into a window.

2014 NESTING SEASON
It may be blasphemy to say but peregrine falcon nests are pretty much all the same after awhile ... the personalities are different but they all go through the same process day by day by day. Cool process without a doubt and it would be nice to watch them all to be able to catch those little moments of personality that make each nest different. Since that just isn't possible for the average fan (or phanatic for the case) sometimes it's something connected the nest that makes it worth finding that extra few minutes a day to see what's happening. This nest is one such, not because their chicks are amazing or their adults are any more heroic or caring than any others it's that these birds nest on the roof of an advertising firm, and advertising firm that is having WAY TOO MUCH FUN with their rooftop neighbours.
Take the time to check out the webcam then check out their Tumblr site - http://cefalcons.tumblr.com/
