I don't think so . . . they are a type of European owl (Bubo bubo). I think they are very handsome owls - and look at the size of the feet on the owlets!

Thanks for all the links with info, Alison... very interesting! :) Yes, the feet on the owlets are enormous. :o And I do love their fluffy coats! The first photo looks as if mom said, "Pose for the camera now." ;)
