The birdie in the last pic looks like it has a black over green band on it's right leg, can't really see the numbers. ???
-
The band number on right leg looks like black A/*Y. Which is Alley's band number.

In these stats for Alley, its says the black band A/*Y is on the left leg. You can clearly see the black band is on her right leg in the photo. ??? ???

Looks like 19K to me. :)

Isn't that the tiercel? Database has a 19/k at that sight and lists him as male. They list 'left' as well but what are the odds another falcon with black green 19/k is at the same nest site?
-
Yes, looks like it.

The default for the leg when the data is entered in the Midwest Database is the left leg. Thanks for spotting that RCF, I will let the database administrators know that it needs to be corrected.

From Nongame Bird Blog
I woke up in the middle of the night, I think around 2 a.m., and for whatever reason, I checked in on the Peregrines. The female was standing in the nestbox, suggesting that another egg was about to be laid.

Checked on this pair this morning and they have four eggs in the box on the State Capitol Building. They have two interesting views this year, one long and narrow on the nestbox and the other long and wide that shows the nestbox on one side - this one could provide some amazing flight in/out shots I suspect. Not to mention great sky/weather views.
According to the Blog, hatch here should be about the same time as the Radisson hatch, early in May ...

What a nice little family. Thank you for posting the pictures.
On Up to Speed today (CBC Radio One) just after 3pm they interviewed someone from Nebraska who was talking about Alley. I think they said Josh (?) I was walking home and listening on my iPod - so between the noise of construction and traffic, I didn't hear the entire segment. I'll keep an eye on the web site & post the link if they put the interview in their archives. I think it usually takes a day or two.
-
If anyone is up at oh-dark-thirty (0600h), I'll be on CBC Information Radio talking about Alley and other Manitoba birds nesting elsewhere ...
Hopefully there will be a podcast for folks interested and who rise at a more reasonable hour ;)
-
Sounds interesting, TPC. Thanks for letting us know. :)
-
Great interview on CBC early yesterday morning, TPC. :)
The 2 chicks that did hatch are 14 days old now and look enormous! Ally just finished feeding them and they are having a faceplant nap at the moment. ;)

Here's what Joel Jorgensen posted on his Peregrine Blog on May 17th...
Conquering Canada and the World
Ok, the headline may be a little bit over-the-top. However, I had the tremendous privilege of being interviewed for about five minutes on the Canadian Broadcast Corporation’s Winnipeg, Manitoba, affiliate today to chat about Peregrine Falcons. Why would our neighbors to the north want to talk to some yokel in Nebraska about Peregrine Falcons? Answer: our female, A/Y or “Ally”, was hatched in Winnipeg in 2004 and showed up in Lincoln in 2005 (and has been here ever since). Congrats to you if you knew the answer. They were merely catching up and seeing how the ol’ girl was doing. Thanks to Mike Green and Larry the afternoon guy for the opportunity to chat. They are still raising falcons in Winnipeg and also have a webcam, their page can be found:

Great video and capture RCF - it's hard to imagine that "our" chicks will be that big soon.
Kinderchick - thanks for posting the blog entry. I don't think they posted the interview.
I feel like I need a Falcon Family Tree on the wall by my computer to keep track of who's who.

So do we all, I am sure, Jo. ;) LOL!

The chicks were banded this morning. Two males :)
Video was shot by Naomi Alhadeff (NGPC Wildlife). http://youtu.be/AmtCP8rKVnE
The Lincoln Journal Star also has some pictures online, now. The link is http://tinyurl.com/6omhmut

OMG! A must see. :o :o Thank you for posting this video, RCF! At 3:00 into the video, did I see Wowzer or at least a mini Wowzer? :) ;) :-*
-
Although it was nice to see the banding, it seems to me that they handled them way too much and then subjected them to that photo shoot. I am sure the poor babies were just terrified.
-
From this afternoon, everyone looks relaxed now after the banding. :)

OMG they're so cute at that age!! Thanks for the photo, rcf!
-
These two are losing all their fluff and getting beautiful brown juvenile plumage, probably won't be long before they fledge.

They're looking ready! Nice shots, RCF!

Great pictures RCF! ;D

I guess these two have fledged and this isn't official but these names had the most votes in a naming contest and the two males may be called "Lewis and Clark" who were early explorers of the Louisiana Purchase.
Meriwether Lewis and William Clark
