Looking at the timing, looks like WW birdie was Sandy inspecting our other nestboxes ... she disappeared from the WW nestsite and reappeared at the Radisson within a couple of minutes.Saw somebirdy around 2:20 on the R - east side of the Radisson- nasty wind, too!
So no new birds in Winnipeg it looks like ... but remember, we are still two or more weeks early ...
Well Pam and I have a story to tell...after checking downtown and heading from A to B by way of Z...I spot a bird in West Winnipeg. Call in to my eyes in the glass tower to she what Pam has seen...nothing was the report :( Then explain that I had a bird in the west...most likely Sandy checking things out ???
About and hour later Pam calls and is watching Sandy/we think having lunch...since it's about coffee break time I tell Pam I will call her back.
A few minutes later I put a call into the glass tower...do you a bird I ask, Pam's reply was yes :D
Dennis's reply was...so do I :D
We have TWO BIRDS...thank heaven for cell phones ;D
Thanks for your help Pam
Two birdies, that's great news!! 8) :) I wonder who it could be?
are you saying you saw princess ;)
Took the little one tobogonogoning for one more time after skool and spoted, I'm sure anyway, 2, yes 2, rather peregrinish boids riding the breeze around the westnest spot, exibiting all the traits of a berd that makes the rules. Could I be wrong....... a small chance. Am I ? I doubt it .......

When you say westnest, you do mean the West Winnipeg Nest.....not the downtown boids right?

Are you now required to issue warnings ahead of time ?

Yes, Eye-Spy has kept the cams going at the West Winnipeg site all winter. And yes, she really was there this morning - I was watching on the cam, Dennis was watching her from his truck as he drove past.
Jules was sitting in the sun at the Diner this morning ...
Has any male appeared in the West Winnipeg area yet?
TPC, from last year's post you were still trying to read the numbers on Jules band to find out her background.
Did you have any luck or is that Wowser's job this year? ???
Or imagine a small width wedding band...it would be very small print :)This sounds like a different type of band than what I remember seeing placed on chicks (although I have very limited experience with this). Is this unusual? Are there specific places where they use these bands? It sounds like you would have to be actually holding the leg in your hand to be able to read it.

I hope she doesn't become impatient and start giving these passers-by the "hairy eyeball".LOL! ;)
Going by tonight at 6:40....Two sentinels by the west winnipeg nest! Somebody is there with Jules!Well, let's hope it's her beau, "Beau"! ;)

... I can confirm that Jules' Beau is home.
I didn't see them on the cam nor did Dennis or I see either of themPerhaps they sneaked off for a "private moment". One can only hope!
Jules' Beau is home.WOO HOO!!!!!
Woohoo...welcome home Beau :-* :-* Thanks TPC!
at 1030 hrs localFledge watch won't be near as nice if that's what they decide.
Beau and Jules are currently hanging out at the site Jules tried to nest on in 2009 and where she lost all her eggs. We do have a nestsite nearby so we are positive yet if they are seriously considering the site or just hanging out there because its pretty sheltered from the wind. We hope they aren't seriously considering it of course, so we'll be keeping and extra close eye on them for the next little while ...
we saw a peregrine flying around the place you folks don't want them to nest. Not sure what you call the place. Not too into the code names. That was about 4:30
Saw one peregrine flying around last year's nest site around 7:30 this evening....Good news!!!
Any new news about our West Winnipeg pair?
TPC do you have a camera at this site this year. Last year you could watch it, right? Any word on where or if they have decided to nest this year?
We haven't been able to access the site we suspect they are using but when we do, our plan is to set up a camera to keep an eye on them again this year. And yes, we do have all the tech prepped and ready to go.

... We are ?
Do you know something I don't ?
At about 5:30 my husband and I swung by the bleachers to see if the peregrines were there. As we got close one falcon flew overhead and landed on the usual rail next to the other falcon. I finally got to see both Beau and Jules in a way that I could compare sizes.Always carry spoons and a thermos of coffee in case of such emergencies!
They were talking to each other for a minute, when Beau then hopped/dropped to the floor of the balcony they were at. Unfortunately since we had ice cream melting in the car we couldn't hang around to watch any further. ???
Always carry spoons and a thermos of coffee in case of such emergencies!Great idea! ;D
Anymore news on these two lovebirds. :)
Still no word on Beau & Jules? Shouldn't they have started laying eggs already?
TPC - Do you think the new pair in town is making them so unsettled?
TPC I think Stormy was referring to Beau & Jules being unsettled about the new birds. Could be mistaken, but sounded that way. ???
TPC I think Stormy was referring to Beau & Jules being unsettled about the new birds. Could be mistaken, but sounded that way. ???
Sorry, multitasking at the time. Don't think the other pairs are a problem as they are even further away from the WW birds than they are from the Radisson ones. Beau and Jules are twitchy by nature though they are better. They have moved their nestsite this year it looks like and the spot they have chosen is far from optimal and I suspect that is what is making them stupid, well more stupid, about nesting. She was the same kind of twitchy in 2009. In 2010, despite being the first bird back and getting a new man quickly, it too these two forever to nest. Last year they laid between May 8-14th, so they aren't late just annoying :)
They have moved their nestsite this year it looks like and the spot they have chosen is far from optimal...So are you saying that they have not chosen a nestbox, TPC, not the newer one or the older one? ???
Well it is unfortunate that they didn't chose last years site. What actually binds them to a site? Last year they had a successful hatch, the year before a site that sounds similar to this year and wasn't good news. I know this switching has happened with the the Radisson birds from one side of the building to the other, but what is driving this pair?
So are you saying that they have not chosen a nestbox, TPC, not the newer one or the older one? ???
There has been no updates here since May 14. Is there any new news on what this pair has decided to do. Do they even know that box 2 exists?
Too bad they are not able to pick last years site. It was a good place for fledging...not too much traffic...quite peacefull.
...More news for y'all when we have it !I hope we hear some good news soon.
I guess it all boils down to....these birds are gonna do what they wanna do! .....sigh!
Oh I hear you TPC.....come out, come out, wherever you are!!!!I guess it all boils down to....these birds are gonna do what they wanna do! .....sigh!
Just wish they would let me know where they wanna do it! ;)
Has anyone seen these two lately?
What an unexpected talent....didn't know the boids could actually tell you that!
Just wish they would let me know where they wanna do it! ;)
I wonder why they chose a new location after the great success they had last year ???
did they chose a place far from last years site? what is "the Diner"?
so you know how long the eggs have been there or is that a guess.
Maybe they feel more safe where they are??/
Maybe they feel more safe where they are??/
If only! They are constantly in a state of not-quite-nervousness, but rather hyper-awareness I guess. They seem to be always on guard which isn't good for their stress levels at this site. We will defintely be keeping them off here next year!
TPC is there any chance of some pictures/screen shots of the WW birds from the camera you get to watch...please.
They would have used last year's box this year if they could have but there is construction going on there so too much disturbance for a nesting pair. We hoped they would use penthouse nestbox # 2 but no. Hopefully with the 2010 site will be available in 2012 - we are going to do our darndest to make this year's site unavailable next year.
Okay, TPC,I'm curious. So how does one make a site (assuming a roof top) unavailable ??? Or less desirable ??? Stand there 24/7 with a large sign saying "Peregrines not welcome" ??? ;D, make owl noises ???, or what ???
Oh and one other though, do they have any coverage at this site or is the tuppernest out in the open like it was on east Radisson?
TPC I have a question............when you found the nest and put the eggs in the "tuppernest" you stated that you thought only two eggs were good. How did you arrive at that fact? Can you tell by the weight of the eggs at the time or is there a definite feel as to density of the egg? Perhaps you answered this somewhere but If you did........ I guess I missed it! Just a "need" to know kind of person ::)
Any sign of pips yet.....or is it too soon? Can't remember if anything was posted about when the eggs were laid.
Oh well, I guess all we can do now is, cross everything in hopes that something, will happen.
I am crossing my fingers NO RAIN on this new baby.
Sorry, but I promised TPC that I wouldn't say anything about a littlesomeoneI mean something that happend in the West End of winnipeg late this afternoon. My lips are sealed. Not one PEEP PEEP PEEP out of me. No sir. :-X
I wish we could see the new baby! Welcome little one! :-*
I wish we could see the new baby! Welcome little one! :-*
Maybe TPC could take a screen shot of the new baby for all of us to see? Since she has special viewing priviledges.... Pretty please... ;D
Just prior to the light going, it looked like egg 2 might have begun cracking along the mid-line, or it could be poop, hard to tell. We'll have to wait until tomorrow to be sure I'm afraid. Last meal fo the day was just after 2000hrs.
Looking back through the video, looks like chick # 2 arrived at about 2325h yesterday ....

Yippee skippee, another chick to fuss over and worry about! We are so lucky this year, it seems that we are knee deep in peregrine babies ;D
... Let's call these babies "Yippee" and "Skippee" until TPC names them properly ;D...LOL! Great suggestion, susha! ;) A great big welcome to "Yippee" & "Skippee"! :D
Update on the chicks here ... one looks fine, the other does not I'm afraid. We will just have to see what the next 24 hours holds ...

TPC, any news on the chick that wasn't moving?
I wonder how the 2 WW chicks are doing this morning? :-\
Thanks for letting us know, TPC. It is very sad, but it is Nature. It's how it is - we're just fortunate to have an insider's view of these Peregrine families and along with the great pleasure we feel at watching these creatures grow and thrive, we also must experience the sadness that comes when some don't make it. :'(
Hurray for Jules and Beau's one and only! :-*

Chick one is fine, chick two appears to have passed away at this point. So sorry to hear that one little chick didn't make it. :'( But glad to hear that one is well and thriving. :D
How could you tell that they knew something was wrong?
The chick appears to be doing great...just feeding now.
Lucky little he/she doesn't have to fight with anyone for food ::)
Can't we see a picture? Pretty pretty please? :D

Will you be banding this singleton, TPC?
Does this location allow for removing the chick from the parents sight for the procedure?
Checked out the WW birds at about 2:30.Interesting report, but if you caused such a disturbance, I would think twice about doing it again.
Saw one sitting where I expected. This one started to get very vocal, so the other one popped up and joined the first. The first one continued to be vocal, jump off the railing, did a quick circle and returned to the railing. The second one dropped out of sight for a moment. When this happened the first one dropped down, rousted the second, and then once again both were on the railing. All the while the first one was cacking up a storm. Then the first one took off, headed toward the diner. The second one dropped back down out of sight. So I swung around and headed toward the diner to see if the first one made it there. Sure enough there was the first one on the NW corner of the building. Then it was time for me to head home.
Interesting report, but if you caused such a disturbance, I would think twice about doing it again.
Sounds like Beau & Jules are really getting the hang of meal times - what great new parents.
...Yeah I started a new topic the right way!... ;D
... At the moment, it is sound asleep on its belly at the back of the tuppernest in a corner where there is lots of "cover".Good. :-* I was wondering if it had much "cover" from the elements.
1215h
Chick hasn't decided to escape from the tuppernest yet, but that maybe because its not competing with anyone and Jules and Beau are still delivering to the box.
...Mom is sitting above him/her to ensure the big bad world doesn't get past her ...LOL! What a great mom Jules is. ;D
Tracy, when is s/he getting their bands?
TORNADO WATCH??? This is just plain ridiculous!
How's the West Winnipeg nest as far as being protected is concerned?
We don't need any more of that early fledging stuff. They should be locked in their rooms until they're adults!!!
1511h
Little Tot exited the tupper nest at 1511h much to the chagrin/annoyance of Jules ...

Tracy any news on when the banning will take place?
Will you put a transmitter on him/her?
Any news from the W.W. nest today :)
Thanks for the update TPC. :)Ditto, Rose. I, too, was wondering how this little guy was doing.
TPC, is this little one going to be banded, or is the location just too difficult to access?
Thanks for the update TPC and as for names I know you have a long list to choose from :)TPC, is this little one going to be banded, or is the location just too difficult to access?
Plan is to band! Must know what kind of name to give him/her :)
And yes, access is difficult, but we think we have it sorted.
And yes, we will have banding photos - or rather Dennis will

Is calling this single chick from a nest "Solo" an option?
Actually, there are alot of Solos on the books, but I was thinking of "Polo" since s/he is a solo and the West Winnipeg territory is west of Polo Park. Works well for both male and female.
...Actually, there are alot of Solos on the books, but I was thinking of "Polo" since s/he is a solo and the West Winnipeg territory is west of Polo Park. Works well for both male and female.Yes, it does seem that there have been lots of chicks named "Solo", when they are the lone chick at the nestsite. The NSW chick at Charles Sturt U in Australia this past year was named "Solo". But "Polo" sounds like a great name, TPC, for all the reasons you have mentioned. :) And who knows, maybe he/she will become an explorer like Marco "Polo"? ;)
Good choice TPC. Isn't Polo a sport of the rich just like falconry is? I believe Prince William played Polo on his trip to north America last week so you could say the name Polo has a royal connection. :)Is calling this single chick from a nest "Solo" an option?

Polo is cute!

Good idea Allicat, maybe it could be Maewest if chick is a girl, the lady was an icon of her time. :)Polo is cute!

There is the option of "West" as well!
I've been doing some sleuthing... read back in the June posts to determine that "Solo" was born on June 16th. That makes s/he 30 days old today and if TPC was to band s/he then it has to be now or never.... which makes me wonder... is that what she's out doing this morning??? :o
Sure hope so as I'm dying to know if we have another female (fingers crossed) and to finally see a picture of her/him!
While watching the Brandon boys as they interacted with each other today, I thought about the lone WW chick and felt a little sad for him/her, thinking what he/she is missing out on - the companionship that's so evident with the Radissons and the Brandons. I'm sure that it's okay with WW chick as it is Nature after all, but still... :'(

But Solo in NSW, Aust. did quite well this past year, even with an injured leg/foot and the parents did take very good care of him/her for quite awhile, long after he/she fledged. (She/he was never banded so I don't think they knew for certain if (s)he was male or female.) All this to say that Brooklyn & Hurricane seem to be good parents so I'm sure he/she will be okay, touch wood and talons crossed. :)

Kinderchick did you not mean to say Beau and Jules.............West Winnipeg parents. Or did I read you entry wrong?Yes, thanks for checking, Ellie. My mistake, I did mean to say Beau & Jules. :-[ Trying to follow too many birds, I guess. ;) Interesting enough, one of the parents at the nest in NSW, Aust. is also named Beau.
Any word on when this chick will be banded? :)
Little chick has been banded - his name is Polo and he's doing very well right now. Dennis has some photos of the banding that he will be posting shortly, so you will all get to see him soon - he's cute.
At the time of banding we had to move him to another building nearby (not the 2010 site), as he has gotten bigger, it was more and more dangerous for him roaming around at the old site. It was also making Jules crazy and she was starting to take some big risks when she thought he needed defending. They made the move like pros and already the adults' behaviour has returned to the way it was last year which is more how it should be. They are still relatively quiet for peregrines, don't know if Jules picked that up from Ivy (who is making Princess quieter than she was with Trey) or whether she's quieter naturally. In any case, they are much more vocal now and much less stressed. Hadn't seen Jules and Beau hanging out together at the same place for more than a month, now they are together more often than not now, which is good for their pair bond.
Polo has a nestbox to use or to get under if he prefers as well as lots of safe space to exercise his legs and wings, and opportunity he didn't have at the old site. Didn't take him long to take the ramp down out of the nestbox and start running around, it reminded me of the Radisson chicks and their rain dances. We have cameras mounted but like every site, we can't see everywhere on the roof and at the moment, he's tucked himself down out of site. We don't have a microphone at this location either so I can't hear him though we can occasionally hear him from the ground but it depends on the wind and urban noises nearby. I'm hoping we do in fact get some rain today and the heat/humidity drops some, I'm sure he'll come out to visit with his parents, one of whom is always stitting on the roof edge.
When Jules insisted on nesting where she did in 2009, I despaired of her common sense. Watching her in 2010 I was impressed by how quick she picked up being a great mother. This year I wondered about her common senses again but watching how quick she was to move with her chick, I realized that with a good nestsite she's a star, with a poor site she has to work too darn hard. Hopefully next year she will choose from one of the two (hopefully soon three) sites we have for her in the West Winnipeg territory.
Any word on when this chick will be banded? :)
I have a strong feeling that TPC was at this site yesterday, the chick has been banded, maybe fitted with a transmitter and TPC, knowing the Radosson cam was watching Dollarama, thought she would make it possible to view the nest prior to announcing that the cams could/would be shut down on July 25th or sooner. That is why she IS TPC. TPC, thank you so very much.
Like you need to apologize for anything. TPC! ???Any word on when this chick will be banded? :)

Actually Polo is still too young for a transmitter yet, but if we can safely get him when he is old enough, my understanding is that he is a candidate.
And sorry, yesterday I had no internet so ran long overdue errands instead :)

Welcome to the Winnipeg Family Polo!!! :-* :-* What a cutie patootie!!! No fierce in that face yet! ;) Funny story... I was looking at the photos and clicked on the first one of Tracy holding Polo. My immediate reaction was "Hey, there's 2 chicks, since when are there 2?! And yet, one looks younger...". I swear I thought there were 2 chicks until I realized one was the chick on Tracy's tshirt! LOL. I had to laugh at myself. Silly, silly me! Also noticed the date on the photos... last Tuesday eh? Kept that little secret from us for awhile didn't 'ya? I know, you had to wait to make sure the re-nest was OK. I understand. So, that makes 6 boys and only 1 girl for Wpg/Brandon. Funny how it's skewed so much to boys... wonder why?
I said the same to my husband, why does Tracy have 2 chicks in west Winnipeg?
Then I saw the chick on her shirt, I felt very silly. ;D
I imagine Polo has changed a lot since banding day. Just looked at those photos again -- the one of him sprawled on his back in the bucket is priceless (all are good, of course, but that one makes me smile every time)! He sure won't look like the same fluffy ball of white running around the rooftop!
Great pictures. I do have a question.
Isn't Polo's black band on the wrong leg?
He has it on the left leg.
The other chicks are on the right.

Just got back from checking on Jules and Beau. When we got there Jules was on the letter P. She sat there for a long time preening herself and then she moved to the U. All of a sudden Beau came around the corner of the building and sat on R (I think). They were sqwaking at each other for awhile and then Jules turned her back on Beau. They kind of took turn flying around the building and then Jules landed on the corner and sat there for quite awhile. Beau was still on the letters. There was an truck there for some electric company and the two guys kept looking at us and finally their curiousity got the best of them and they had to come over and see what we were doing. He asked if we were watching the planes coming in and then we would race to the airport to see who got there first. We told him to look up and he says "your watching birds, what do you expect them to do" We said fly and gave a brief bit of information. I am sure he thought we were nuts as he walked away. Oh well.
Oh yes!! I've been asked in Brandon many times if I was watching planes or looking for UFO's, or they just walk by, look up and then give you funny look. ::) ;D :P

Generally banders tend to be consistent with which band they put on which leg. We have two nests in relatively close proximity and in a month, all our chicks will be up and flying in basically the same air space. When we are trying to identify who is who after everyone has fledged, knowing that Polo's black band is on his right leg can speed up the identification process.
And yes, I will have video on YouTube tonight - will post a note here when they are up. :)
Did you band last years chicks on the right leg too?

Still waiting to see our little Polo... :D
Humidity is playing havoc in my home :'(, still working on it
Well it is hot as hadies here in Ontario too and I don't have AC.OH no! :o Poor you, eagle! :'(
Around 9:30 this morning dad flew in and prepped a mid-morning meal...then the meal was delivered to a squawking Polo.Mmm... lucky Polo! :)
Diner at 6:00...dad just dropped off diner for Polo and he is still working on it...just before diner he was doing some wingersizing, so he has found his wings.Wingersizing, you say, dennis? Yikes! :o He'll be fledging before we know it. :)
Thanks for the update leana. Sure is great watching them isn't it. When we were sitting there the other night before you knew it a couple hours had passed. I am worried about Polo once he does fledge. Too bad we can't tell him where to fly.
He's been up on the roof edges already and running about and since he's a solo, I expect he won't stay too long before he wants to follow after his parents. Having said that, his parents are much more attentive than either the Brandon or Radisson parents - he's never gone more than a couple of hours without a parent 100ft or less from him. Might make him hang around a bit longer, if one is around, he doesn't get as lonely as solos usually get.

So, TPC, do you think that Jules and Beau are staying closer to Polo than the Brandons or Radissons because he's on his own or because that's just their nature?
Great pictures Tracy. ;D Glad to be able to see Polo, Jules, and Beau.
Does he have a transmitter on him? The first picture kind of looks like
there's a long wire behind him.
Sad news this morning ....I can only imagine what it was like to be there and be helpless to help instantly. Sad for both of you. {}
Polo fledged last night just before we lost the light to the cameras. He ended up on the Viscount Gort which is where we found him this morning. He was on the lowest roof and Dennis and I were discussing what would be his best (aka safest) routes off the roof...
Wow...it was some morning and then ???
For those that need the link and more will be added...just will take some time.

Was he wearing a transmitter? Looked like it in entry 146??
Ah, but he had two of the best, rcf. A hundred fledge-watchers couldn't have prevented this sad event. TPC has been concerned about this site since Jules chose it to lay the eggs, obviously with good reason, as the sad results of this nest have shown.
Next year, let's hope that these lovebirds make better choices :)
Thank you, Dennis. :)Yes, thank you Dennis.
How disappointing. How quickly the excitement turns to sorrow. From witnessing a successful fledge to only watch it end in tragedy.
Beau and Jules will continue to guard their domain and circle their sky. Perhaps next year, we will watch their chicks fly!

I have just finished loading some photos in the "Polo" Gallery...at this time I'm unsure if there will be more or not ?
Cheers !
Dennis
at this time I'm unsure if there will be more or not ?Thanks Dennis - no worries about finding more to post. You have great photos posted already. :)

Your photos are gorgeous Dennis, he was such a distinctive looking peregrine chick. I'm really very, very sad what has happened to him. :( :'(
. . . that fierce little creature.

What a perfect description, Irenekl! Dennis, your photos are always amazing, but you may have outdone yourself with the shots of Polo. He looks like a true raptor, fierce and scrappy -- beautiful!
Sweet words Allikat, and what we all hope for next year. Thank youThank you newchick! How disappointing. How quickly the excitement turns to sorrow. From witnessing a successful fledge to only watch it end in tragedy.:) Very Poetic Allikat. So very poignant.

8) Tracey, an interesting question. Have Beau and Jules been looking for lil' Polo? I could hear one of them calling when I was down at Polo Park for dinner. ???
...It is a hopeful sign to see them interacting like this and that they will have time to recover before heading off on migration in the fall.I am relieved and very glad to hear this. I was worried that they may become discouraged and give up on each other. Do pairs ever remain together during the migration period, TPC?

Hard to know, getting one band number on migration is a rare event, getting two is not something I've ever gotten I'm afraid. But its possible someone, somewhere has.Well, I suppose the only way to know for sure, would be with tracking devices as are on Rain & Rosser in Brandon. But I don't imagine there have ever been adult pairs, each with a tracking device on. Now that would certainly make for an interesting study, I would think.
Good news! Love to know that they are pair bonding! Keeps that "falcon romance" alive!8) Tracey, an interesting question. Have Beau and Jules been looking for lil' Polo? I could hear one of them calling when I was down at Polo Park for dinner. ???
Actually, not as much as I worried they might. Could be because they were there with Dennis and I when Polo died. They have been at the nestsite but only occasionally have they visited the nestbox, which is interesting as this is where Polo spent most of the day out of the sun and where they usually found him. What is a good sign is that Beau has been more successful in his efforts/desire to pair-bond with Jules than Ivy has been (so far) with Princess. And by good, I mean positive and hopeful. Jules and Beau have had a hugely stressful year this year, much worse than any of our other pairs ever. It is a hopeful sign to see them interacting like this and that they will have time to recover before heading off on migration in the fall.
The genesse pair ,each had tracking devices on , but she got rid of hers. What do you mean, bev? Do you mean she removed it herself? :-\

TPC, I have been wondering, if there is no construction at Beau and Jules' old nestsite, is there a possibility they may nest there next year? ???
They must really hate them. The genesse pair ,each had tracking devices on , but she got rid of hers. What do you mean, bev? Do you mean she removed it herself? :-\
She might have nibbled through a strap on the backpack, the strap material might have failed or it might have been put on too loosely and she was able to get out of it if the strap material stretched a bit. (think dog-harness on a small dog, they wiggle out of those easier than you think unless they are done up "properly")
Nothing is every perfectly secure - at least one of our peregrines managed to get a band off - metal with two rivets (before my time, but I've seen the photos).
No, we can't put the nestbox back out until the work is finished. And the work is continuing, it's just taking a long, long time. Originally I heard it would only be for a year, now I've heard anecdotally that it will take longer than a year. I hope to find out more information from management when I talk to them later in the summer. That really sucks!!!

One of our West Winnipeg spotters sent me this today ....
At 2:30 sitting outside my new BBF's [Jules & Beau] decided to stay and say hi. They stayed about 5 minutes. As they fly by the last time they each such stared at me and I'm thinking that they're thinking "yea we see you there" haha
...I didn't have the binoculars or camera...what's up with that Dennis ??...No binocs or camera? What IS up with that, Dennis?! :o :o :o LOL! ;)
No one on the diner when I went by this morning. I was hoping someone might be sitting in the sun.
5 September
1650h one of the adults - Jules I think visited the nestbox for about 1/2 hour. The sun was setting behind her so but it did look and behave like Jules ..
Hopefully making better plans than this year.
Hopefully they can go back to their 2010 location...
Construction will still be underway, I think.

I'd forgotten about that. Any good alternate locations in the area, TPC?
My back yard...just a thought 8)LOL! Great idea, Dennis! 8) How tall is your house?! Or do you have a very tall cliff in your back yard?! ;) LOL!
Hopefully they can go back to their 2010 location...
I have a feeling they won't be back at their 2010 location next year. Construction will still be underway, I think. Am I correct, in remembering that you had said that, at one time, TPC? ??? It is too bad, though, since from what I've heard, that seemed to be a good location.

...with eyes only for each other...;D 8)
Glad you're all seeing PFs on letters! :) There's been no action on the J and R this year. The difference between Trey and Ivy, I guess. Rats!
Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 10:15 a.m., birdy sitting on the "e" facing west. I kid you not!...Wow! That's amazing, Cooper! :o What great spotting! I have looked there a few times in the past few weeks but have not seen any birds at all. I thought for sure they had all migrated. I wonder if it's the same bird that you and TPC have spotted downtown lately? :-\

Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 10:15 a.m., birdy sitting on the "e" facing west. I kid you not! Kind of dirty/oatmealy coloured breast. Traffic lights wouldn't cooperate to give me a red, but I had a good look (much to the annoyance of the guy behind me no doubt as I slowed to a crawl to rubber-neck).
I think we go to the spots that look good to falcons...Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 10:15 a.m., birdy sitting on the "e" facing west. I kid you not!...I have looked there a few times in the past few weeks but have not seen any birds at all. :-\
I pass by at least twice a day and this is the first time I've seen anyone there in ages. No idea who it was. Maybe someone just passing through, but it sure makes me wonder how the birds know to go to these spots familiar to us.
...and Sandy is showing us again how familiar she is with those spots.
